The Guardian reports that a Scotland Yard spokesperson confirmed that police were called to the hotel Wednesday evening to investigate a reported assault. The police made an arrest for assault and suspicion of theft, but they have not released the identity of the accused, believed to be Doherty.
The filmmaker, Max Carlish, told the Daily Mirror that he and Doherty were in the Rookery Hotel, and that "everything was going fine until he started demanding loads of cash. He wanted thousands, and I knew he was going to go out and spend it on heroin. He was desperate for a fix. I said 'No,' and he went berserk, punching me." Carlish reportedly suffered two black eyes and a broken nose in the altercation. The Guardian reports that Doherty reportedly accused Carlish of selling photos of the troubled rocker smoking heroin to newspapers.
