The Proclaimers have just finished shooting the promo video for "Restless Soul," the first single and title track of their brand new album due out September 6 (Persevere). The video was shot in Glasgow and was directed by up-and-coming director Blair Young (Franz Ferdinand, Belle & Sebastian, Trash Can Sinatras, Sons & Daughters).
The "Restless Soul" video is a poignant look at a family dealing with the celebrations and losses of living, and was shot to look as if a non-stop moving camera was weaving and observing its way through the characters' lives.
Of the song "Restless Soul," Proclaimers' Charlie Reid said, "The words are fairly self-explanatory. The song is about what anybody's soul searches for, so we wanted to convey a feeling of constant movement."
Brother Craig adds, "The song is about people like me who are driven by something within them that they can't control, a life force or whatever, so that even when they're knocked down or held back, you know they're going to come through - not because they're tough or they've got great stamina, but because they're absolutely driven."
"Restless Soul" is released next week in the UK, and has already received a 5-star review from the main Scottish broadsheet, The Scotsman, which called the album "majestic." The album will be in-stores in the U.S. On September 6, and The Proclaimers will launch their North American concert tour on September 8.
