Tarantino is also killing the DVD competition with Kill Bill Vol 1, which reportedly sold more than two million DVDs the very first day in stores, according to the Hollywood Reporter.
The first film opened with $22.1 million in ticket sales its first weekend and eventually grossed just under $70 million at the US box office. The industry is buzzing that Vol 2 is likely to top that and go over $100 million. We shall soon see if that is the case.
Although, Vol 2 concludes the story line
from Vol 1, Tarantino is already mapping out a third volume that will take
the violent saga on a different story arch. Tarantino spoke with Entertainment
Weekly about his plans of the Vol. 3, instead of Thurman staring in the
film Quentin will turn the key role over to Ambrosia Kelley for the character
of Nikki, daughter of Vernita Green (Vivica A. Fox). I've already got
the whole mythology: Sofie Fatale (Julie Dreyfus) will get all of Bill's
money. She'll raise Nikki, who'll take on The Bride," Tarantino told the
magazine. (see
story).
