The photographer claims that Martin attacked him. Martins camp claims that the photographer tripped while trying to chase a taxi carrying his wife, actress Gwyneth Paltrow.
Scotland Yard is investigating the incident and confirms that the photographer did suffer some minor cuts and scratches but that the injuries did not call for a trip to the hospital. At press time, Scotland Yard has yet to talk to the photographer to get his side of the story. "We will take a formal statement from the alleged victim in due course. No one has been interviewed yet," Scotland Yard said according to a Sky News report.
A spokesman for Coldplay gave Martins side of the story, "Naturally enough for a man whose wife is heavily pregnant with her first child Chris' sole concern was to ensure that Gwyneth got into the cab safely and was not impeded or harassed in any way.
"As they were not leaving together he followed the taxi for a short distance to ensure she was safely on her way when at the same time the photographer ran after the taxi tripped and fell in the process."
