The film which will be called See Arnold Run has been pitched and accepted by the cable network which hopes to premier it next summer around the time of the presidential conventions.
Schwarzenegger won the California Governorship in a special and controversial recall election last Tuesday (Oct 7). California voters gave Arnold the nod with 48.7% of the vote in a field of 135 candidates that also included child-actor Gary Coleman, porn star Mary Cook, punk rock vocalist Jack Grisham and pornographer Larry Flynt.
''He is the personification of the American dream,'' Abbe Raven, executive vice president and general manager at A&E said of the decision to make the film. ''This is one of those stranger-than-fiction stories that you just couldn't make up.''
Casting has not even started and already names are being buzzed about as potential leading men for the film including Dennis Quaid, Viggo Mortensen, Willem Dafoe and Billy Campbell. Our long-shot pick is Dana Carvey, who may not have the size but does a pretty good impression of the Govenator.
Producer of the film Cypress Point Prods., went to most major networks and cable channels with the idea before the election but A&E seemed to be the only network that was willing to sign on the dotted line before the outcome of the election was known.
What about equal time? Dont worry the
network has a biopic of Hillary Clinton in the works as well.
