In each episode the straight guys, "The Flab 4", will attempt to make a gay guy pass for a heterosexual. Production executive Lou Wallach spoke with Reuters about the show and laid out the basic premise. Wallach said the makeovers would include instruction in Spartan home decorating, less-than-fashionable clothing and straight attitude eg oafish manners and overdeveloping ego to mask personal failings.
They will conclude each episode with the Flab 4 grading their charge to see if he passes for a straight man.
According to Wallach the network is producing 3 hour-long episodes. They found gay candidates that wanted to explore what it would be like to be straight. The show is set to debut in February.
Turn about it fair play; at least in Comedy
Centrals eyes. But wait, Bravo is doing the same thing... That's
right, the network that brought us Queer Eye for the Straight Guy
is planning a one off special called Straight Eye for the Queer Guy.
The special will have five straight guys attempt to make over a gay guy
by teaching him about power tools, NFL rules, hair-on-the-go grooming,
and keeping your emotions bottled up. Sounds a bit like the sitcom Home
Improvement.
