While antiMUSIC is best known for exposing our readers to hard rockin acts we also focus on showcasing some of the best talents in other musical realms and this night will be a showcase of exceptional vocalist and songwriters and overall over crowd winning performers.
Bird and Tishara, two artists who won over the crowds at antiFEST 02 will return for special performances on Thursday night. They will be joined by a one of kind performer from Amarillo, Texas named Rodney Branigan that has to be seen to believed (read on)
Bird
Bird, the former frontman of Bird 3, a
band that captured a nationwide audience in 2001 when they toured with
The Cult, Stabbing Westward and also Veruca Salt. Known for their dynamic
modern rock music, Bird 3 was a critical favorite but their label wasnt
able to take them to the top. Bird returns with brand new material
and a new musical direction. Inspired by the reaction of fans to the more
introspective and mellower songs on the Bird 3 debut, Bird has penned over
a dozen new dynamic acoustic songs. He tested them out on a sold out crowd
at the Cat Club last fall and amazed the audience (people who were there
are still buzzing about it!). This is Bird first performance of the year
as he prepares his solo debut album and is currently the focus of friendly
bidding war between labels to decide who will bring his music to the masses.
Tishara
This former Miss Hawaiian Tropics beauty
is far more than skin deep. Shes a talented singer and songwriter in the
tradition Jewel and is always a crowd pleaser! The following is from
our post antiFEST coverage, What can you say about Tishara? She is not
only gorgeous (Shes Ms. Hawaiian Tropic) but she has an amazing voice.
Following the unplugged nature of the night thus far, Tishara stood along
on stage with just her guitar and a microphone and sang her heart out.
She has a key sense of melody as her original songs showed but her voice
is what brought the people out to see her on this night. Think Jewel without
the twang and with a bit more power and you have an idea of what Tishara
sounds like.
Rodney Two Guitar Branigan.
This 25-year-old musical prodigy out of
Amarillo, Texas is like nothing you have ever seen before. Rodney is truly
a one-man band as he plays two guitars simultaneously along with percussion.
The last two times Rodney was in LA he sold out several successive nights
at various clubs and he returns to LA to bring his special performance
to the Hard Rock on Thursday. Rodney puts on a show that you really have
to see to believe!
We hope that those of you in Los Angeles can join us for this special night of music! Here are the rest of the show details:
