The first few dates of the new Eagles tour have been announced. At this point it looks like the tour will kick off on May 16th in Florida.
Don Felder will not be involved as he had a falling out with the other members in 2001 when he filed a lawsuit to have the Eagles, LTD dissolved. He was fired from the group a couple months later and filed another suit for breach of contract and wrongful termination. Below is part of the story we ran in May of 2001 when Felder filed the second lawsuit.
Felder was fired from the group on Feb. 6th[2001]. Felder believes he was fired because he had been calling for a full accounting of profits and copies of agreements from the Hell Freezes Over Tour and Album as well as 1972-1999: Selected Works box set. According to Felders claim he had been attempting to obtain the records from Henley and Frey who stonewalled his attempts and only provided limited information on a selective basis. According to Felder's lawsuit, things came to a head in January when the Eagles manager Irving Azoff, offered him an ultimatum: Either Felder fire his business lawyer Barry Tyerman immediately or he would be kicked out of the band. Felder complied with Azoffs demand and was still fired by the band in early February.
Who will be on this tour? The current lineup includes Don Henley, Glenn Frey, Joe Walsh, and Timothy B. Schmit.
The band has also been working on a new studio album but speculation that it will be released this year has been called into question. Now it appears that the album will most likely surface next year. But who knows, in rock n roll things can change at a moments notice.
To help promote the tour, the band has teamed up with Yahoo and created an online fan club which will give members access to tickets and other Eagles goodies.
