It appears that Avril had to return home to get some respect. After the hype surrounding her Grammy nominations where she walked home empty handed, the intellectual pop-punk princess was vindicated at the Canadian music industrys answer to the Grammys, The Juno Awards.

All told Avril walked away with awards for Single Of The Year (Complicated), as well as New Artist Of the Year, Album Of The Year, and Pop Album Of The Year.

Ozzy Osbourne isnt the only rock star to hobnob with heads of state. Last Saturday Canadian Prime Minister Jean Chretien presented Avril with a diamond record award (that means she sold over a million albums in Canada. The U.S. version of the Diamond award requires sales of 10 million).

Chart Attack ran segments of an interview with Avril following the ceremony. "He was actually kind of funny," Lavigne said. "He told me I heard you were kind of complicated in school. And I was like, OK? And then he was like Yeah, I got kicked out of three different colleges. And I was like Thank you! And he also told me that he used to skateboard or something like that and that he was the Sk8er Boi. I thought that was kind of funny."

It is also noteworthy that Avril was nominated for Songwriter of the Year but lost out to Chad Kroeger of Nickelback. Some questioned this nomination since Avril was only a collaborative songwriter on the music for her debut album.
