Day in Rock Report for 01/22/2025

Think of the craziest things you've ever seen at a show and multiply it by 10... and that is still not as insane as the antics frontman Matt "The Lord" Zane and Society 1 were commonly known for. Now, in a new documentary being released exclusively by Thunderflix.com on February 14th, the film, "Everyone Dies" takes a look back documenting the madness that was Society 1, including the record breaking performance where Zane was suspended by four meat hooks at the Download Festival while he performed with the band. Along with the announcement, the band released the new single "Stitches" along with a bizarre and grotesque animated video directed by Ben Faircloth which depicts the band being mutated and mutilated by hideous hybrid fauna from across multiple dimensions of nightmares.

About the new single, frontman Matt Baty explains, "I'm aware our band sits in a world largely commandeered by bravado, confidence and machoism, but 'Stitches' is an expression of vulnerability, paradoxical emotions and those so familiar pangs of anxiety I wrestle with while butting heads with societal expectations and personal struggles." Rush legend Alex Lifeson's new band Envy Of None just released their brand new single "Stygian Waves" and to celebrate we asked vocalist Maiah Wynne to tell us about the track. The song is the title track to their forthcoming album, which will arrive on March 14th. Here is the story:
