Deko Entertainment is excited to bring you the next release in our Brian Setzer Orchestra re-issues. 2000's Vavoom! featuring "Gettin' In The Mood" on limited edition 180g colored vinyl drops on March 21st,

The Brian Setzer Orchestra is a swing band formed in 1992 by Stray Cats frontman Brian Setzer. Their debut self titled album was released in 1994, and was followed up in 1996 with Guitar Slinger. In 1998, for their breakout album The Dirty Boogie, the group covered Louis Prima's "Jump, Jive An' Wail", which originally appeared on Prima's 1957 album The Wildest! and found themselves with a runaway hit! The album's success led to a massive tour which ran from fall of 1998 through the summer of 1999, including a performance at the infamous Woodstock 1999. The Dirty Boogie's success was capped off with a Grammy win for Brian's version of "Sleepwalk" for Best Pop Instrumental in 1999. That would just be the first Grammy that Brian would bring home with the Orchestra. (continue)

Charm School have shared a brand new single called "Without A Doubt". The track comes from their forthcoming album, "Debt Forever", which will arrive on January 24th.

Force Field PR sent over these details: Charm School is the latest project from Andrew Sellers (fka Andrew Rinehart) and longtime collaborators Matt Filip, Drew English, Brian Vega, and Jason Bemis Lawrence. The name change signals a move away from Sellers' previous songwriting efforts (as evidenced by his recent duet with Bonnie Prince Billy) toward a much darker and more aggressive sound. Think 70s Post-Punk & No Wave mixed with 90s Post-Rock and you'll be close. (continue)

Skunk Anansie have released their brand new single "An Artist Is An Artist". Their first new music in almost three years, it finds the acclaimed four-piece at the peak of their powers and is a witty, provocative, pulsating slice of spiky, new-wave brilliance.

Tackling everything from ageism to our current need for approval in the digital age, "An Artist Is An Artist" somehow seems to hark back to the band's vitriolic debut single, "Little Baby Swastikkka," in terms of its confrontational quality. It also reaffirms the fact that SKUNK ANANSIE is part of Britain's proud agit-pop lineage that extends back to The Slits, whilst also conjuring up the wordplay of Ian Dury. (continue)

Nashville heavy psych and sci-fi metal pillars Howling Giant celebrate the special 10th-anniversary reissue of their self-titled debut EP in a newly remastered version including five bonus tracks today.

About this special EP reissue, the band says: "For the 10th anniversary of our self-titled EP, we wanted to reflect on our origin story. With this release, we included the original 2012 demos recorded during our time in Boston so that the listeners could hear the evolution of our sound. We're very excited to repress the HG EP on vinyl, newly remastered by Tony Reed with a bunch of goodies on the B-Side. We recorded the original demo for Whale Lord as part of a mixing project in college. We booked the only available studio time (a 4-hour block from 2am to 6am) to record 2 tracks live and on the spot. From the witching hour, we brought Whale Lord and Tusk of the Thunder Mammoth into existence. We hope you enjoy comparing the original 2012 demo to the final product, recorded live in Tom's bedroom. These are the tracks that started it all. The wizard lives." (continue)

If Gus Englehorn didn't exist, one of his songs would have to invent him. Two years after the release of his critically acclaimed album "Dungeon Master" -- cited by Under The Radar as "a fascinating dose of outsider indie rock, carried by Englehorn's yelping vocals, gleefully offbeat song writing, and darting melodies" -- former pro-snowboarder, reborn nomadic psych-pop prophet, Gus Engelhorn is thrilled to announce a brand-new album "The Hornbook," set for a January 31 release, available on CD and vinyl (Secret City Records).

Primarily written in Maui, recorded in Montreal with Grammy-winning co-producer Mark Lawson (Arcade Fire, Timber Timbre, Colin Stetson), and mixed by Paul Leary from the legendary noise-rock band Butthole Surfers, The Hornbook magically transmutes the entire history of 20th-century rock 'n' roll-'50s golden oldies, '60s garage spunk, '70s glam flamboyance, '80s indie transgression, '90s lo-fi weirdness-into an alien transmission from the future. The album also includes soundscaping from the Unicorns' drummer Jamie Thompson, as well as contributions from Englehorn's partner in music and life, Estee Preda. (continue)

The Italian metal quintet Benthos are kicking off the year with a bang: With "Pure," they are officially releasing the second single from their upcoming album. The as-yet-unnamed album, set to be released this spring, will mark Benthos' second full-length record.

"Pure" clearly showcases a different side to the band while maintaining the band's distinct identity. The single creates an addictive dynamic, blending crystalline tones, melodic guitars, and delicate vocals that erupt into a powerful scream, all while leaning into a lighter prog sound. Lyrically, it explores themes of shedding materialism and embracing pure existence. (continue)

Redbeard shared this synopsis for the episode: We had never met anyone in rock music quite like The Pretenders' bandleader Chrissie Hynde, and honestly, in the forty-five years since The Pretenders debut, I still haven't. And if anyone tried to tell her story, you would swear it was some punk rock fairy tale dreamed up by a screenwriter with an over-active imagination. That's why I have Ms. Hynde here to speak for herself In the Studio about The Pretenders/ Pretenders II, one of rock's most important one-two Post-Punk punches. (read more)

NYC alternative/indie star Zoe Ko just released a brand new single called "drop the man", and to celebrate we asked her to tell us about the track. Here is the story:

I adored making "drop the man." It was one of the easiest songs I've ever written! Friends are one of the most important parts of my life, especially my girl best friends. They always have my back, are my safe space to be my insane self, fill my life with fun hilarious memories, and so much more. "drop the man" came to be because of my two best friends who were on a streak of having terrible taste in men. It was basically a whole year of seeing another lame dude come in and out of their life and leave each time with a little piece of their heart. And I was not having it. (continue)
