Sammy Hagar "Can't Drive 55" so it is fitting that he will headlining the Rock The Block concert on January 17th ahead of the upcoming Barrett-Jackson auction in Scottsdale, AZ.

Billed as Sammy Hagar & Friends, the Red Rocker will be joined by his Van Halen/Chickenfoot bandmate Michael Anthony, his Best Of All Worlds band drummer Kenny Aronoff and his Circle and The Waboritas bandmate Vic Johnson. (continue)

Down guitarist Kirk Windstein took to social media to share a photo from the recording studio where he and Pepper Keenan were recording guitars for the band's first new album in 17 years.

The acclaimed group, that is fronted by Pantera vocalist Philip H. Anselmo, have not released a new album since their 2007 effort "Over The Under" and Kirk took to Facebook on Friday (January 3rd) to reveal that they are recording. (continue)

Rush guitarist Alex Lifeson revealed that he and Geddy Lee continue get together each week to jam, despite the band officially retiring a decade ago at the conclusion of their R40 Tour in Los Angeles in August of 2015.

Original AC/DC frontman Dave Evans explains in a recent interview how the legendary band came up with their name, that is was Malcolm and Angus Young's sister-in-law that suggested they use AC/DC.

Evans revealed the story in a new interview with Podpokas. He said that in late 1973 that the band had a chance to perform a New Year's Eve show at one of the famed clubs in Australia, Chequers. But they did not yet have a name. (continue)

Here is the report in our look back in the Year In Rock: Alex Van Halen has been breaking his silence on a number of issues as he does rare interviews to promote his forthcoming memoir "Brothers". He dispelled the assumption that his recent gear auction meant that he is retiring from music, which even sparked a reaction from his former bandmate Michael Anthony at the time.

Back on June 1st, Backstage Auctions offered up a number of items from Alex's career including his 5150 drum kit, which led to many speculating that he had decided to quit music. He now says that is not the truth. Van Halen addressed the rumor with Billboard and Alex revealed that people "misinterpreted" the auction, he was only cleaning out a warehouse of equipment that he was no longer using. (continue)
