When Pantera vocalist Phil Anselmo and bassist Rex Brown decided to put hugely respected thrash band Pantera back together in 2022 there was only one man they wanted to fill the shoes of guitarist Dimebag Darrell - Dime's longstanding buddy and Ozzy Osbourne guitarist Zakk Wylde.
Dime died in 2004 after being shot while performing with his band Damageplan in Columbus, Ohio. His drummer brother Vinnie Paul died of heart failure in 2018, but even before he passed there had already been talk of a Pantera reunion. (continue)
Abilene, TX's Dexter and The Moonrocks' Cinderella story continued its unlikely trajectory this week. The small-town Texas alt rock band who perform "sad cowboy songs" found themselves at the top of the Alternative Radio chart with "Sad in Carolina;" scoring more than two million streams in two weeks and averaging 100,000 streams/day on their cover of Tyler Childers' "Messed Up Kid;" and announcing their first series of tour dates in 2025.
"Sad in Carolina," the band's debut radio single from their EP "Western Space Grunge" (Severance Records/Big Loud Rock), has steadily ascended to the top of the alternative rock radio chart. This week, it surpassed Sum 41 to become the #1 song at the format. (continue)

AC/DC return to the road in the United States for the first time in nine years on the 2025 Power Up North American Tour! Much to the delight of millions of fans across North America, the legendary GRAMMY Award-winning Rock and Roll Hall of Fame-inducted band will perform in 13 stadiums coast-to-coast next spring.
This run kicks off on April 10, 2025, in Minneapolis, MN at US Bank Stadium, canvases the continent, and concludes on May 28, 2025, in Cleveland, OH at Huntington Bank Field. Along the way, they will play some of the most iconic and historic stadiums in the world, including the Rose Bowl in Pasadena, CA on April 18 and Soldier Field in Chicago, IL on May 24. The 45th anniversary of Pink Floyd's epic "The Wall" album is being celebrated by the syndicated radio show In The Studio With Redbeard: The Stories Behind History's Greatest Rock Bands with a two part special.
Redbeard shared this synopsis for part 1: Upon the album's release in late 1979, one of the more ironic trivia "bricks" in the original limited staging of The Wall by Pink Floyd is that, unbeknownst to hardly anyone then outside the band's tight inner circle, the internal power struggle, dissatisfaction with the contributions of two members, and the thinly-veiled attitude of a third had finally resulted in original Pink Floyd keyboard player Richard Wright being forced out. Ultimately, Wright was hired to play on The Wall tour as a sideman, but The Wall concept creator Roger Waters insisted that Rick's severance include a clause forbidding Wright from ever officially rejoining Pink Floyd again, a barely submerged shoal of contention that would emerge far into the "endless river" of Pink Floyd's future. But I crawled out the passenger window and, while sitting in the back of a cop car, a song came on the radio and it reminded me... I used to do that.
