Day in Rock Report for 11/04/2024

As I Lay Dying frontman Tim Lambesis took to social media for the first time since the rest of the members of the band left the group and addressed the shakeup in the lineup and vowed to rebuild the band.

He told fans, "Hi everyone, I needed some time to process all that has happened recently with AILD. As I reflect, I certainly agree that there was an unhealthy environment that made leaving for a new tour with the previous lineup unrealistic. It had become difficult to figure out even the smallest details, and I admit I can stick strong to my vision for the future of AILD even when others think it should go another direction. (continue)

Yusuf / Cat Stevens' little known 1974 concert album, Saturnight: Live from Tokyo, is scheduled for release in the U.S. for the first time ever, 50 years after it was released only in Japan, due to contractual restrictions. Remastered from the original production master for the first time since its original release, the record will go on sale exclusively as part of Record Store Day's Black Friday annual event on November 29th. It will be available as an "RSD First" release on 180-gram Orange Splatter color vinyl. The LP has been cut at the world-famous Abbey Road Studios and will be packaged for the first time in a gatefold sleeve that includes lyrics and new liner notes from the band's 1974 tour manager, Carl Miller, and bassist Bruce Lynch.

Saturnight was recorded on June 22nd, 1974, at Sun Plaza Hall in Nakano, Tokyo, Japan on the Japanese leg of Cat's 1974 "Bamboozle World Tour." The tour comprised 50 shows across North America, Europe, Australia and Japan to support the release of Buddha and the Chocolate Box. Cat had long felt an affinity with the aesthetic elegance and spiritual depth of Japanese culture, especially the principles of meditation and reflection upon which their traditions of poetry, design and craftsmanship are founded. The 40th anniversary of Bryan Adams' "Reckless" album is being celebrated by the syndicated radio show In The Studio With Redbeard: The Stories Behind History's Greatest Rock Bands.

Redbeard shared this synopsis for the episode: In November 1984 Bryan Adams' fourth album, Reckless , had only just begun spinning off what eventually would be a total of six Top 15 hits, including "Run to You", "One Night Love Affair", "Somebody", "Summer of '69", "It's Only Love" with superstar Tina Turner, and the #1 single, " Heaven". At the time only Michael Jackson's Thriller was the equal of Reckless for sheer mass appeal sales. Ponder that for a moment. (read more)
