The relationship between iconic Black Sabbath guitarist Tony Iommi and English musician Glenn Hughes stretches far back into the mid-eighties. Best known for playing bass and performing vocals in the hard rock band Trapeze and in the Mk. III and IV line-ups of Deep Purple, Hughes sang on the 1986 Black Sabbath album 'Seventh Star'.

Ten years later, Iommi once again collaborated with Hughes for a release that would become known as 'The 1996 Dep Sessions', recorded at DEP International Studios in Digbeth, Birmingham. The recordings were demos left unfinished due to the original line up of Black Sabbath reforming at the time. However, a bootleg recording known as 'Eighth Star' was circulated among fans so in 2004, to combat this, the session was eventually officially released. (continue)

The Fight For Nashville is a Breast Cancer Awareness Concert to help raise money for the American Cancer Society Men Wear Pink Foundation. It showcases Van Halen music from all eras and songs played by many of Nashville's top tour band members, performing artists, and local favorites. The goal is to rock for a cause and help raise money for breast cancer research. The show will be held at The Cowan at Top Golf (500 Cowan St., Nashville, TN) on October 8th. The doors open at 6 pm show starts at 7 pm.

Show organizer Brian Russell Collins stated, "Cancer is a disease I've been personally affected by. Losing my mother and sister to this disease changed my whole world. My life's mission is to always fight for the ones who are in the fight and battling for their lives. This event is for all who have fought and are still fighting, and the ones we lost. Music brings us together, and there's no better music than Van Halen to bring us all together for a cause that helps fight cancer. This show is a tribute to the music, to the legacy of Eddie Van Halen, who lost the battle to cancer, and to the fighters who still fight and know they're not alone. Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds release their new album Wild God, on streaming, CD, and standard and limited edition color vinyl. The album has been celebrated by critics around the world, with 4 and 5 star reviews across the board. Cave says 'I hope the album has the effect on listeners that it's had on me. It bursts out of the speaker, and I get swept up with it. It's a complicated record, but it's also deeply and joyously infectious.'

Across ten tracks on Wild God, the band dance between convention and experimentation, taking left-turns and detours that heighten the rich imagery and emotion in Cave's soul-stirring narratives. It is the sound of a group emboldened by reconnection and taking flight. There are moments that touch fondly upon the Bad Seeds' past but they are fleeting, and serve only to imbue the relentless and restless forward motion of the band. (continue)

Nashville alt-rock duo Lips Speak Louder just released their debut single "Hype", and to celebrate we asked guitarist Rachel Brandsness to tell us about the song. Here is the story:

I came up with the idea for "Hype" when I was at home one afternoon. I had been writing and collaborating with Angie for several months and was really trying to tap into a 90's sound, as well as write something that rocked a little extra hard. I think the chords and chorus melody came to me first. That melody then kind of guided the subject matter of the lyrics. It had such a scathing feel to it and an aggression. (continue)
