The whole song was built from that, and it came together super fast. The main guitar riff is quirky and fun. The lyric is classic LTJ. A really fun song mixed with a sad lyric." The band released their first two punchy singles off the album, "Silver Cloud" and "Too Late To Say." "Silver Cloud" was released with an accompanying music video where singer Derek DiScanio breaks the cycle of a mundane, unfulfilling life with a cast of characters played-out by the rest of the band.
Produced by Anton DeLost (Mayday Parade, Hawthorne Heights), State Champs will showcase some of the best edgy, high-energy tracks that have defined their career thus far, making it the exact right time to debut their Self-Titled album. "We found our way, through the ups and downs within us, personally and as a band, and wanted to express that," explains frontman Derek DiScanio. "This is the right time to showcase it." Bassist Ryan Scott Graham agrees. "When we stepped back and looked at the songs, sonically and thematically, it's a great vision of who we are. Every era of State Champs exists within this record." Iodine Recordings is proud to present the 20th anniversary edition of Audio Karate's landmark Lady Melody on limited colored vinyl. This deluxe edition of the classic California punk record has been completely remastered for vinyl by Jason Livermore at Blasting Room Studios and includes all new artwork and a retrospective by the band and Bill Stevenson (Descendents, ALL).
In 2001, four Mexican American kids from the suburbs of East L.A. came together to form Audio Karate, their unique mix of melodic, emotional punk rock made it difficult to place them in any one genre but it also garnered a legion of fans. Their knack for writing infectiously catchy songs with deeply personal lyrics caught the attention of Kung Fu Records, who signed them in 2001 alongside bands like Blink-182 and Tsunami Bomb. Rising rocker Tristan Tritt (son of country music icon Travis Tritt) just delivered his debut EP "What Are We Doing?", and to celebrate we asked him to tell us about the song "Burn". Here is the story:
"Burn" was not a song I originally thought I would write. Like most songs I've written, it started out as a melody in my mind that I thought was cool. I kept trying to put the pieces together for a few weeks in order to build onto the melody, but nothing seemed to stand out or satisfy me. Not long after my failed attempts, I ended up in Nashville, with a producer named Brad Wagner. I explained to him the melody I had, but still I had no concept of what the song was even about.
