Motley Crue bassist Nikki Sixx took to social media on Tuesday (August 6th) to pay tribute to Aerosmith, following the legendary band's surprise announcement last week that they have retired from touring due to Steven Tyler's vocal injury.

Sixx wrote, "In 1973, a fifteen-year-old kid named Frank Feranna walked into a record store alone and emerged with the first Aerosmith album in hand. I would carry that album with me everywhere, including to friends' houses, confessing to them that this was the future of rock 'n' roll. (continue)

The Get Up Kids today released their first ever music video for "Ten Minutes," the dynamic, fan favorite single from the 25th anniversary reissue of the Kansas City band's genre-defining sophomore LP, Something to Write Home About (due out digitally on August 23rd and physically on September 20th via Polyvinyl Record Co). Directed by longtime friend and scene peer Josh Berwanger (The Anniversary), the "Ten Minutes" video lovingly assembles rare archival live footage of DIY shows, posters, photos, and other ephemera from the era.

The remastered single is also out now alongside its auspicious demo version that showcases the song's sturdy, road-tested origins. "When I wrote the opening guitar riff for 'Ten Minutes,' my inspiration was the song 'Do the Vampire' by Superdrag. It's pretty obvious once you know. Their album, Head Trip in Every Key, was on heavy rotation when we were writing Something to Write Home About," says songwriter/guitarist/singer Jim Suptic. "When I listen back to this song and watch the new video for it, my first impression is just how young we were. Some of us were literally teenagers. My voice almost sounds like a totally different person than who I am today. With that said, maybe that is why the album connected with so many people. We were singing about the things everyone struggles with at that age. At its core, Something to Write Home About is a coming of age record. (continue)

Earlier this year, members of Ice Nine Kills and From Ashes to New formed a brand new band called Hillhaven. Today, they have shared the official video for their fourth single "Sycophants."

It follows the buzzy prior singles "Damned to Dream," "The God You Think You Are," and "GAPS." "I think this might be the one we've all been most excited about, especially after shooting the video," says singer Chris Kelly. "It kind of felt like we were all getting a little peek at what a Hillhaven show might actually look like and, honestly, it doesn't get any less fun to watch, which I've done more times than I care to admit. There's an energy and charisma to this song that makes you wanna let loose and that's exactly what we did on set; one of those 'core-memory' type moments for us. Is party moshing a thing? Because it might have to be now." (continue)

I'm excited to share the story behind the re-release of my single "Lookin' For Love" as part of celebrating the 30th anniversary of my solo album. While revisiting the idea of re-releasing the album, I connected with a fantastic, artist-friendly company called SING, who gave me full creative freedom to move forward. During a planning call, SING's CEO Geoff Osler mentioned that it would be great to have a new track alongside the original album. That's when I remembered a demo of "Lookin' For Love" I had, which was intended for the album but never fully recorded. (continue)

Bright Eyes have released a new track "Rainbow Overpass," from their forthcoming tenth studio album, Five Dice, All Threes, out on September 20th via Dead Oceans. The bright, punky anthem is propelled by acoustic guitar, horns, and fist-pumping gang vocals featuring Alex Orange Drink of The So So Glos, the accelerating tempo like a speeding car driving off the eponymous rainbow overpass.

Of the new track, Bright Eyes' frontman Conor Oberst says, "Alex and I wrote a lot of the songs together, but 'Rainbow Overpass' is the only one he gets [to sing] a verse. He's kinda like my hype man, getting a little Beastie Boys on the sh*t! They grew up on punk rock and the Beasties, so there are a lot of little bursts of other voices. I like that. It creates energy. Sometimes music can feel flat until you get into a live situation, when there's adrenaline and raw energy. Instead of working in reverse, where that happens as we tour, I was trying to get some of that energy onto the record." (continue)
