Ripped To Shreds explodes out of the underground with the new album 'Sanshi,' out September 27th on the mighty Relapse Records. Bearing all the blood-soaked hallmarks of their hellacious sound, 'Sanshi' is an onslaught of frenetic dueling solos, blasting drums, and van Drunen-esque vocals that further fuse the grit and grime of old-school Death Metal and Grind with the here and now.

"We wanted to come out of the gates swinging with our most morbid and grinding material yet. 'Perverting...' showcases our new live approach with constant vocal and solo tradeoffs, and we shot the video in Taiwan with a real Daoist priest as a natural extension of RTS' narrative approach to songwriting." Cleopatra Records joins the punk rock world in mourning the death, shortly after midnight on Saturday, of Pat Collier, founder member and bassist of The Vibrators - among the very first of all the first-wave UK punk bands back in 1976, heroes of the legendary 100 Club Punk Festival, and the first of all those bands to release a single, "We Vibrate." Yes, even before the Damned and the Pistols.

Collier left the Vibrators following their debut album, first joining short-lived power-poppers The Boyfriends, before moving into production, overseeing releases by The Stukas, Stiff Records hopefuls The GTs and Robyn Hitchcock's Soft Boys, and operating out of his own Alaska Studios set-up beneath the railway arches at London's Waterloo Station. When Tommy Bolin passed away on December 4 1976, rock lost more than one of its greatest ever guitar players. Gone, too, was all of the music that he would have gone on to make - just 25 when he died, Bolin was still at the dawn of his career. The future would have been breathtaking.

This month, Cleopatra Records continues its celebration of his memory with a reissue of Great Gypsy Soul, a deluxe reissue of the 2012 star-studded collaborative album! (continue)

With the Summer Camp with Trucks Tour marking the first full outing in five years for generation-defining band Hootie & the Blowfish, the Nashville stop at Bridgestone Arena this Saturday, July 27, was cause for extra celebration. Having recently been presented with a plaque celebrating 22x Platinum certification during their appearance on ABC's "Good Morning America," band members Darius Rucker, Mark Bryan, Dean Felber and Jim "Soni" Sonefeld were joined by the Recording Industry Association of America's Chief Policy Officer Morna Willens ahead of this weekend's show for a special presentation of the RIAA's prestigious Double Diamond trophies. The honor solidifies the band's debut album, Cracked Rear View, among the top 10 best-selling albums in all of music history.

The celebration continued as the band took the stage later in the evening, with Forbes describing the show that followed as "a high energy celebration of a band whose music has remained timeless," raving, "the music has never been better. Rucker's voice is even richer now than ever (if that's possible) and the musicianship with each and every band member is top notch. And they're all still having fun with Mark Bryan, guitar-in-hand, singing, jumping, criss-crossing the stage, Soni jamming on the drums, and Felber better than ever on the bass." (continue)

The Jeremy Edge Project just released their new single "The Black Sheep", as the lead single to their forthcoming album, and to celebrate we asked Jeremy to tell us about the track. Here is the story:

The Black Sheep started out as me simply experimenting with open D tuning and slide guitar. We don't do a lot of traditional blues per se, but this riff just seems to have a great, foot stomping vibe. I often strive to write things that have a bit of complexity and the simplicity of this one appealed to me. (continue)
