Guns N' Roses bassist Duff McKagan says that the band has newly written material that they have been working on but he is not sure how the group plans to release it.
Duff revealed the news during an appearance on Trunk Nation With Eddie Trunk earlier this week after he was asked if he believes the band would ever release newly written material instead of songs that date back to earlier times, like the "Chinese Democracy" sessions. (continue)
The wait is over: today, One Hand Clapping, one of the most bootlegged live albums in musical history, finally receives a proper release. In August 1974, when Band on the Run was enjoying a seven-week consecutive #1 stint at the top of the UK album charts, Paul McCartney and Wings headed to Abbey Road Studios for the filming of a video documentary and possible live studio album - One Hand Clapping. Despite overwhelming demand for newly recorded material from the biggest band in the world at that time, One Hand Clapping was never officially released.
Filmed and recorded over four days and directed by David Litchfield, the release of One Hand Clapping is a historic moment for Paul McCartney fans. Over the years, various parts of One Hand Clapping have been bootlegged with varying degrees of success. Some of the material has also appeared on official McCartney releases. However, today's new release of One Hand Clapping, which features the original artwork designed for the project, including a TV sales brochure for the unreleased film at the time, is the first time the audio for the film-plus several additional songs recorded off-camera--have been officially issued. Back in 1999, Vertical Horizon had the album everyone wanted and June 15 marks the 25th anniversary of their multi-Platinum Everything You Want, which features the smash hits "Everything You Want," "The Best I Ever Had (Grey Sky Morning)" and "You're A God."
The band is celebrating the anniversary with a new repress of the original record on translucent orange vinyl, which is available now on the band's official website. "Everything You Want" reached #1 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart (where it stayed for 41 weeks), as well as #1 on the Billboard Adult Top 40 chart, it was Billboard's Most Played Single of 2000, and the video currently has over 18 million views on YouTube and continues to be a Rock radio and playlist staple today. John Entwistle is best known as the legendary bassist for the Who. Nicknamed the Ox and Thunderfingers, Entwistle's music career spanned over four decades and he was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame as a member of the Who in 1990. Renowned for his musical abilities, he was voted as the greatest bassist of all time in a 2011 Rolling Stone magazine readers' poll and in its special "100 Greatest Bass Players" issue in 2017. Bass Player Magazine named Entwistle at number seven.
Rarities Oxhumed - Volume Two is the second of the series of posthumous releases coming from John Entwistle. This compilation was curated by drummer Steve Luongo, who served as John Entwistle's producer, bandmate, business partner and good friend for many years. As Luongo states, "When I agreed to do two volumes of John Entwistle rarities, I knew volume two had to be even better than volume one. It is!" The collection of songs on Volume Two are from his years with the John Entwistle Band and include re-mastered versions of studio tracks including "Endless Vacation", alternate mixes of tracks like "Sometimes", and live tracks including The Who cuts "Real Me", "Long Live Rock" and an epic version of "Young Man Blues". (hennemusic) Van Halen is streaming video of a 1991 Dallas performance of their hit, "Top Of The World", from the forthcoming release of an Expanded Edition of its album, "For Unlawful Carnal Knowledge."
The previously-unreleased concert footage was captured during a show at the West End Marketplace, which the group delivered as a make-up date after Sammy Hagar experienced vocal issues during the band's 1988 stop at the Cotton Bowl on their Monsters Of Rock tour and offered to have the group return to perform a free concert. In art, our most trusted instrument is our feelings. When we eventually come out of the fog, meaning may (or may not) surface. The feeling of the fog, though, lingers for a long time.
