Day one of Julien's Auctions blockbuster two-day music auction event "Music Icons" made history with the highly anticipated sale of John Lennon's lost hootenanny guitar used by the legendary Beatle during the 1965 Help! album which sold for an unprecedented $2.9 million dollars, making it the most expensive Beatles guitar to ever sell at auction.

The guitar was acquired via a telephone bid at the Hard Rock Cafe New York. Julien's Auctions, the industry's leading rock 'n' roll memorabilia auction house, has broken world records with the sale of Beatles memorabilia, including a previous John Lennon acoustic guitar, which sold for a record $2.4 million, Ringo Starr's Ludwig drum kit, which sold for a record $2.2 million, The Ludwig Beatles Ed Sullivan Show drumhead, which sold for a record price of $2.1 million, and The Beatles White Album, owned by Ringo Starr, that sold for $790,000. Heart have announced that they have been forced to cancel their planned tour of Europe and the UK this summer because Ann Wilson will be undergoing a medical procedure and will have a six week recovery time.

The band shared the following, "We regret to inform you that all upcoming Heart performances in Europe are cancelled. In late May, Ann Wilson will undergo a time-sensitive but routine medical procedure for which the recovery time is six weeks." (continue)

Snow Patrol have returned and today shared the new song "The Beginning', which is the lead single from their forthcoming album "The Forest Is The Path", the group's band's first new record in six years.

The album following 2018's 'Wildness', and is set for release on September 13th via Polydor Records. It was produced by Fraser T Smith (Adele/Dave/Stormzy) and the band. Now comprising the trio of Gary Lightbody, Nathan Connolly and Johnny McDaid, Snow Patrol offer the first taste of their extraordinary new album with first single 'The Beginning', as well as announcing details of a UK and Ireland Arena tour in 2025. Def Leppard's 'Pyromania' became a genuine phenomenon in 1983 when it sold a staggering 10 million copies in the United States alone. Guitarist Phil Collen and bassist Rick Savage spoke to Rock Candy Mag editor Howard Johnson at length about the long and arduous process of making this masterpiece.

"Our producer Mutt Lange said to me, 'Yeah, you're a good rock band. But if you want to be great..." says Collen. Leppard spent the best part of the year of 1982 painstakingly crafting the songs for 'Pyromania'. (continue)

Genre-blending and bending New York City-based collective VRSTY (pronounced "Varsity") have shared their cover of Nate Smith's 200 million-streaming smash "World On Fire."

"The first time I heard this song, I was absolutely stuck," says singer Joey Varela. "I haven't heard a song that's hit me this hard in a long time. Everything from the lyrics to the way that it's composed is just absolutely amazing to me. I think I knew instantly that I was going to cover it. Alternative rockers Culture Wars have released a music video for their brand new single "Heaven", which is the band's first new music since their 2021 EP teche.

frontman Alex Dugan said of the song, "It became a daily ritual. I would wake up, walk the long way down Bondi Beach to get coffee and breakfast, come back to my rental unit, and log onto Zoom to begin writing with Caleb. For me it was 10am, but for him it was nighttime. 'Heaven' was written in two parts, the verse in Bondi, and the chorus after I had moved units to Edgecliff." (continue)

US power metal legends RIOT (V) are more than just back! Celebrating the release of their highly praised new album, "Mean Streets," the group took the European stages -- including a co-headlining performance at Germany's Rock Hard Festival -- by storm earlier this month. Besides catapulting the band into the German album chart once again (this time at no. 35), RIOT (V) could even enter the Swiss (#23) and Austrian (#59) sales chart, marking their very first entries in both countries.

The Felice Brothers released the official video for their new single "Flowers By The Roadside," the second song to be released from their new album Valley of Abandoned Songs, out June 28. The 13-song collection is the first release on Conor Oberst's new label imprint Million Stars and consists of recordings primarily from sessions for the band's 2019 album, Undress, as well as their most recent release, 2023's Asylum On The Hill, with band's current lineup of Ian Felice (guitar/vocals), James Felice (piano/vocals), Jeske Hume (bass), and Will Lawrence (drums).

About the new single, Ian Felice explains: "This song was written one especially bleak winter day as a means to teleport to summer. Midway through the first and only take of the song James walked across the room, picked up a toy glockenspiel and plucked out a melody that had occurred to him. It was recorded in 2018 in our old cinderblock studio outside of Hudson, NY." (continue)
