Percussionist M. Shawn "Clown" Crahan was forced to sit out Slipknot's headline performance at the Song Temple Festival this past weekend in Columbus, OH.
Frontman Corey Taylor addressed Clown's absence during the band's set. He told the crowd, "First things first, obviously, we are missing one of our brothers. Clown, yesterday, broke a tooth, had to have it removed. (continue)
Stryper guitarist Oz Fox is recovering from his latest brain surgery. He and his wife shared an update via social media this weekend, following the procedure late last week.
He shared via Facebook on Saturday, "Now I'm gonna recover in the hotel next door for a few days. And then I'll have a meeting with my doctors later, see how things are going and see what they have to say. And I'll be up and around as soon as I can. We're gonna probably head back to Vegas probably in about a week, roughly." (continue)

The 55th anniversary of Crosby, Stills, and Nash's self-titled debut album is being celebrated by the syndicated radio show In The Studio With Redbeard: The Stories Behind History's Greatest Rock Bands.
As its imminent release approached in late May 1969, and contrary to conventional wisdom, I feel compelled to point out that the debut album from Crosby, Stills, and Nash was not heralded as coming from a "supergroup" (arguably that term was first used by a Time magazine reporter who coined it to describe Blind Faith's pairing of ex- Cream Eric Clapton and Ginger Baker with Traffic's Steve Winwood later that same summer). But hindsight certainly has proven that the qualifier "the first supergroup" to describe any band containing The Byrds' David Crosby, Buffalo Springfield's Stephen Stills, and Graham Nash from English hit machine The Hollies quickly would prove to be completely warranted. The lyrics for these three songs came from a deep place within me. I wasn't aware of it, but these feelings and emotions were somehow waiting to resurface and be turned into aggressive yet melancholic songs. "With You In The Dark" is straight up about being jealous. Nothing more, nothing less. I think most of us have experienced or even endured this nasty feeling, so much so that it turns into hate. Well, it's exactly that. While some might say this song is a bit cliché, I embraced the sentimentality. (continue)
