Atreyu have premiered a music video for their new single "Come Down," which comes from their forthcoming album, "The Beautiful Dark of Life", that is due December 8 via Spinefarm.
Using a psychedelic drug metaphor, the single speaks to current Atreyu mood. "What we're going through is a high we never want to come down from," frontman Brandon Saller said. "Those experiences with psychedelics can be very awakening to some people, too," adds guitarist Dan Jacobs. "They can break you down and give you a bigger, broader perspective of yourself when you come back down, which I feel is a journey we've all been on." (continue)
Today, following a year in which Peter Gabriel has released a new song on the occasion of every full moon, as well as performed live to rapturous audience throughout the UK, Europe and North America, sees the release of his much-anticipated new studio album, i/o.
i/o is 12 tracks of grace, gravity and great beauty that provide welcome confirmation of not only Peter's ongoing ability to write stop-you-in-your-tracks songs but also of that thrilling voice, still perfectly, delightfully intact. Throughout the album the intelligent and thoughtful - often thought-provoking - songs tackle life and the universe. Our connection to the world around us - 'I'm just a part of everything' Peter sings on title track i/o - is a recurring motif, but so too the passing of time, mortality and grief, alongside such themes as injustice, surveillance and the roots of terrorism. But this is not a solemn record. While reflective, the mood is never despondent; i/o is musically adventurous, often joyous and ultimately full of hope, topped off as it is, by the rousingly optimistic closing song, Live and Let Live. A rite-of-passage concept album with a young character called Travla at the centre of it, 'The Circus And The Nightwhale's' 13 tracks have an autobiographical angle for the musician who says about his 30th solo release: "I love this album. It says the things I've been wanting to say for a very long time."
Today he is pleased to reveal the first single, and the albums opening track, 'People of the Smoke', and you can watch the video now below. Steve says of the track: "People of the Smoke spins us all back in time to 1950, when bustling post-war London was stifled with smog from trains, chimneys, industry and smokers. While Queen shows of the mid-'70s led rock 'n' roll into a new era, the band often saluted their formative influences as a parting shot. Brooklyn hardcore rockers Cash Bribe have just released their new EP, "Escape From New York", and to celebrate we asked Kirk to tell us about the song "ICBM". Here is the story:
The music for 'ICBM' was something that we had kicking around at the time that Joe and Brian (vocals and bass) joined the band. I think we might have shown it to them as an example of what our songwriting was looking like at that point, to make sure they were down for what Larry (drums) and I were doing. (continue)
