The founding vocalist of Smash Mouth, Steve Harwell, has died at the age of 56. The band took to social media on Monday (September 4th) to pay their tribute to the late frontman.
The group wrote, "Steve Harwell was a true American Original. A larger than life character who shot up into the sky like a Roman candle. Steve should be remembered for his unwavering focus and impassioned determination to reach the heights of pop stardom. (continue)
Former Judas Priest guitarist K.K. Downing says that he approached the band about reuniting with the group and was told "no" by the band, and he believes he will never perform with them.
Downing, who now leads his new band KK's Priest, reunited with the band during their induction into the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame last year. He was asked by Metal Hammer if he would ever play with them again and he responded, "No". (continue)

The Salvation Army's iconic Strawberry Field attraction in Liverpool is to dedicate its new bandstand to its benefactor, music icon, Cliff Cooper, in a ceremony to officially mark its opening attended by commissioner Anthony Cotterill, Territorial Commander of The Salvation Army.
Strawberry Field's eye-catching bandstand is a striking new addition to the south Liverpool visitor attraction, shaped as a giant bass drum inspired by The Beatles' iconic album cover, 'Sgt Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band', and referencing The Salvation Army and its marching bands. The bandstand's floor is covered by a circular mosaic inspired by the 'Imagine' mosaic in Central Park's Strawberry Fields in New York, with its interior walls decorated by a large mural by renowned pop artist, James Wilkinson, depicting the legacy and importance of The Salvation Army's work, John Lennon and the legendary song, 'Strawberry Fields Forever.'
