Royal Blood unveil their highly anticipated new album Back To The Water Below. The album is launched alongside a video for new single "Shiner In The Dark."
When Mike Kerr and Ben Thatcher started work on Back To The Water Below, they cast aside any preconceptions of what their band could be. They allowed themselves the freedom to embrace other ideas, at times being guided by melodies rather than riffs and rhythms, and at others deploying whatever instrumentation they felt best complemented the songs. Key to achieving their creative liberation was the decision to produce the record entirely independently for the first time - not to mention, having the freedom to stroll down to their studio space near their homes in Brighton whenever a moment of inspiration struck. While everything had changed for Royal Blood over the course of the previous decade, the reason for forming the band was completely unchanged: the simple joy of Mike plugging in, Ben picking up his sticks, and the pair making a racket for the sheer fun of it. Rock n' Roll icon, musician, actor, and Little Steven's Underground Garage radio host Michael Des Barres has teamed up with Portland, ME musician Kris Rodgers (Kris Rodgers and the Dirty Gems, Kurt Baker) on a new single titled "Bounce Back Baby" out today on Wicked Cool Records.
Des Barres says, "I have always admired Kris Rodgers's work. I felt he had an innate rhythm and blues feel to his songwriting. I wanted to do a couple of songs with piano and wonderful backup singers, and also with his great band, the Dirty Gems. I am so pleased with the results, and our co-producer Dave Draper and Wicked Cool Records, of course. I believe in the positivity of life more than I ever have because we need it so badly, which is in essence what the lyric implies. Get up on your feet again, and fall in love with yourself!" Kvelertak have shared the lyric video for the title track of their forthcoming album "Endling," which arrives on September 8 via Rise Records/Petroleum Records.
"Starting with a guitar hook that could have been picked up at a First Avenue show during a U.S. tour and culminating in a Queen-like crescendo of harmonic guitar leads, 'Endling' serves as a requiem for destroyed nature and broken human destinies from our own time," the band says, giving a real bird's eye view into the song! "Trusting silver-tongued modernity only ends in a trunk full of fury and unspent wealth drugged in a rut behind you on your certain journey across the river Gjoll." (continue)

Queen have released "In The Lap Of The Gods", episode 31 of their 50-week long video series "Queen The Greatest Live". No Queen concert is ever short of songs that encourage the fans to sing along, and even before the now legendary combination of "We Will Rock You" and "We Are The Champions" provided the ultimate sing along finale, Queen had plenty of crowd pleasers that unified the audience into one massive chorus - such as "In The Lap Of The Gods."
Even with the lineup singing four-way harmonies, there has always been room for a few thousand backing vocalists at a Queen show. As passionate advocates for crowd participation, the band have too many singalongs to list, from "Radio Ga Ga" and "Another One Bites The Dust" to the finale of "We Will Rock You" and "We Are The Champions." But as we see in the latest episode of Queen The Greatest Live, even the band's deeper cuts could turn a rowdy stadium in a word-perfect choir. (continue)
