(hennemusic) Motley Crue is sharing a video recap of its August 8 performance at Ohio Stadium in Columbus, OH. The Los Angeles rockers followed a set by tour partners Def Leppard to close out the second date of the summer North American leg of their shared world tour, which resumed three days earlier in Syracuse, NY.
Motley Crue will release a 40th anniversary limited edition box set of their 1983 classic, "Shout At The Devil", on October 27. Upon its original release, the group's second album delivered their breakthrough into rock's mainstream with the help of singles like "Looks That Kill", "Too Young To Fall In Love", a cover of The Beatles' "Helter Skelter", and the title track, as well as a regular rotation of their companion videos on MTV. Joe Bonamassa has unveiled "Lazy Poker Blues," the latest single from his forthcoming album Blues Deluxe Vol. 2. This rejuvenated classic, originally performed by Peter Green's Fleetwood Mac, showcases Bonamassa's deep reverence for the titans of British blues. "Now, again, there are two Fleetwood Macs, there's the one my Mom really loved that had Stevie Nicks and Lindsey Buckingham in it, and then there's the one that my Dad really loved, which had Peter Green in it," Bonamassa quips. "It's kind of where I cut my teeth, how I learned how to play the blues, how I learned how to play guitar...Those were my gateways to the masters."
Blues Deluxe Vol. 2 is Bonamassa's heartfelt tribute to the roots of his musical journey, breathing fresh life into classic tracks and encapsulating the blues genre's evolution. Out October 6th via J&R Adventures, the album features two new originals and eight new covers spanning some of the most important names in the blues - from Bobby "Blue" Bland to Albert King. Also available for pre-order is the Platinum Edition Box Set (limited to 500 units worldwide), which includes the CD and Vinyl versions for both Vol. 2 and Blues Deluxe Remastered along with exclusive items. (hennemusic) Queen revisit an unforgettable moment in history on the latest episode of the weekly series The Greatest Live. As one of rock's first truly international bands, Queen have never let the language barrier stand in their way. Having already blazed a trail to South America at the dawn of the '80s, the lineup broke new ground again on that decade's Magic Tour, journeying to Hungary for a sell-out show at Budapest's Népstadion.
Before a note was even played, the show on July 27th, 1986 was loaded with significance, representing the first concert performed by a stadium-league Western European rock band behind the Iron Curtain. (continue)
Legendary and multi-Platinum rockers Foghat will be releasing their long-awaited 17th studio album-their first in seven years-later this year on the band's label, Foghat Records, which is distributed by Select-O-Hits (part of the Sun Records family).
The album's first single, "Drivin' On" (co-written by the late Kim Simmonds from Savoy Brown), is now available for pre-save here. In addition to three brand new songs written by band--founding member/drummer Roger Earl, guitarist/engineer/co-producer Bryan Bassett, singer/bassist Rodney O'Quinn, singer/guitarist Scott Holt-three other songs were co-written by Kim Simmonds, the man who gave Roger his first break back in 1967 as a member of Savoy Brown. Sadly, shortly after writing these songs, Kim passed away. (continue)
Almost fifty years ago to the month, British rock band Wishbone Ash brought out 'Live Dates', their most commercially successful album. A milestone, not only for the band, but also in the history of rock music.
"At the time, we had been on tour non-stop for three years, had released 'Argus' - from today's point of view our most important studio album - and were like a well-oiled machine," remembers founder Andy Powell, who continues to helm the group. "We had made a name for ourselves as a dynamic live act, so it only made sense to capture the energy and vibrancy of our shows on a live album. Fortunately, the record company funded the costly Rolling Stones Mobile Recording Truck, so we were able to record several shows during our UK tour and compile the most powerful moments on 'Live Dates'." (hennemusic) Liam Gallagher is sharing video of Knebworth 22 performance of the Oasis classic, "Champagne Supernova", in sync with the live album's August 11 release.
The project captures the rocker in concert at the UK venue that was the scene of his former band's era-defining gigs of the '90s; the pair of sold-out June 2022 gigs saw the singer perform before more than 170,000 fans over the weekend. (continue)
Australian indie-rocker Dippers just released their brand new album "CLASTIC ROCK". To celebrate, we asked Matthew Ford to tell us about the song "Recurrent Sight". Here is the story:
Even though the vocals are a predominant aspect of the majority of our music, I prefer not to over-contextualise the songs or summarise the lyrical content, as I typically overlap multiple ideas of imagery or storylines within each song. However, with Recurrent Sight, it is mostly based on a method I came across to cope with the constant mental anguish caused by the less gratifying neurodivergent traits that I experience. (continue)
