Always thought-provoking and eager to explore new avenues Queensryche are releasing a fully AI generated video for the song "Tormentum", taken from their latest album, "Digital Noise Alliance". The video was directed by Above The Void,

The band about the song and concept of the video: "Driving straight into the horrors of crimes against humanity and the rules of the Geneva Convention, this storyline depicts two characters: one as the vulnerable victim in pain, and the other as the captor trying to extract information. The chorus leads with the powerful chant, "Lights Again", expressing the person finally opening their eyes staring at the interrogation lights above during the dead intervals of torture. The eyes return to being closed tightly as the sessions begin again. The tale ends up highlighting this never-ending cycle of power, control, and greed." (continue)

Acclaimed Boston musician Phil Aiken just released his new single "Lesser Lights" and to celebrate we asked him to tell us about the track. Here is the story:

The first single from my album "Here Goes Nothing" to be released, with video, is a song called "Lesser Lights". It was written in a single sitting at the piano, and I wrote it start to finish in order, including the twists in song form. I did have the title in my head when I started. I wrote the intro riff, which led me into the first verse, into the pre-chorus, and so on. The interesting thing about the form is that the pre-chorus the first time through changes place with the chorus the next time through. That section - "The chip on my shoulder's getting older and older" also gets elongated and with slightly brighter chords the 2nd time it happens. In that sense the music mirrors the words, as "older and older" also suggests "larger and larger". I tend to just think of the song as having two choruses. (continue)

The live album will be released July 21 via Verve Records.

"And now we're going to do a gutbucket blues," Simone said in an evocative spoken introduction to "Blues for Mama," which can be heard on the full album. "It is so because of its background. There's an old porch, and there's an old man, and there's a beat-up guitar and a broken bottle. There are flies all around, there is molasses all around, and he is composing this tune on a hot afternoon. The lyrics are written by Abbey Lincoln, and I wrote the music. It will appeal to a certain type of woman who've had this kind of experience." (continue)

Frontman Jacob Betts shares the heart behind the lyrics of the song, Samuel Overman talks about arranging and recording the strings, and Guitarist C.T. McCallister shares insight on developing the song sonically.

Jacob Betts (Lead Vocals + Guitar): "'Tripping' was born out of the spring 2021, when my world crumbled beneath the weight of the prior 18 months of the pandemic- not only loneliness and isolation, but all of the societal anxieties and tension had built up within my heart. It was an emotional breakdown- a soul scorching collapse that left me gasping for breath under the weight of it all. With the encouragement and support of my wife Ashley, family, and friends, I embarked on a journey of therapy. It was there, amidst the raw vulnerability of ripping away the built up layers of defense, that a lifelong suspicion was unveiled-an official diagnosis of OCD. (continue)
