(hennemusic) Neil Young will release his "lost" 1977 album, "Chrome Dreams", on August 11. A series of sessions between 1974-1976 saw Young record 12 tracks for the project, which was ultimately shelved, with most of the material appearing on later albums and compilations.

The set gained legendary status over the years when a copy of the original acetate (test pressing) circulated among the bootleg community. "Chrome Dreams" features two previously unreleased versions and other performances, including the early solo version of "Powderfinger"; "Pocahontas" is the same version that first appeared on "Rust Never Sleeps", but without the overdubs; "Sedan Delivery" and "Hold Back the Tears" are very different versions (the latter with additional lyrics) than previously released; and "Stringman" was included on the Odeon/Budokan disc in Archives Vol. II - prior to that it had only appeared on Young's "Unplugged" album. Underoath have shared their newest stand-alone single, "Lifeline (Drowning)". The band most recently released the acoustic version of their single "Let Go". Both songs will be included in their forthcoming full-length album, set for release in early 2024, and showcases the band's new direction with unmatched creativity and innovative storytelling.

Speaking on the new single, Underoath said ""Lifeline (Drowning)" is a cry for help... I feel like we've all been there, be it as simple as miscommunication or a full on toxic relationship - that very feeling that you cannot tread water like this any longer or you may end up drowning. We wanted to create a song centered around the melody that could still hold the energy of a full blown heavy song." (continue)

The Future I Dream Of recently released their new single "1946". To celebrate we asked Ryan Milliken to tell us about the track. Here is the story:

This song was written about when my grandmother passed away and how I dealt with the grieving process. It opens by talking about the moment she passed and also the shock phase of grief with each word capturing the exact emotions that were felt during those moments. The first pre-chorus of the song 'I face the bottom liquor lies, truth is I'm not that good at goodbyes...' talks about the unhealthy coping mechanisms that I followed after she had passed. I wrote the chorus based on the regret I had following her death. I wanted to emphasize the feeling of what it's like when someone like that close to you has left your life. Following the chorus, the second verse talks about self-hatred dealing with the fact that I felt that I had more time with her but I didn't. The overall message behind this is to shed light on the fact that life is unpredictable and that you shouldn't take your loved ones for granted. (continue)

With just over a week to go until blur take the stage for two unmissable shows at Wembley Stadium, the band today released a video for "St. Charles Square," the latest track to be released from their highly-anticipated brand new album The Ballad of Darren, out July 21st via Parlophone/Warner. "I f***ed up, I'm not the first to do it." - St. Charles Square

The opening line of "St. Charles Square" is already firmly established as a crowd favorite, with audiences enthusiastically roaring along with Damon Albarn as the band blaze their new songs across Europe this summer. The song's chorus recalls the discordant art-pop swagger of earlier work and sees Albarn queasily exclaim "cause there's something down here, and it's living under the floorboards" encircled by backing vocals that compound the sense of encroaching peril and a quintessentially marauding guitar turn from Graham Coxon. For more than 20 years, vocalist/guitarist Michael Poulsen has been spearheading Danish rock and roll machine Volbeat, releasing eight full-lengths, selling millions of albums, and filling stadiums worldwide.

Before fronting Volbeat, however, Poulsen formed death metal band Dominus, which recorded four fast, brutal albums in the mid '90s. When Poulsen was putting together songs for Volbeat's 2021 album, Servant of the Mind, he wrote a bunch of death metal riffs and saved them on his phone.

Then, when he was done with the Volbeat record, he reopened the rusty gates to Armageddon and started putting together songs for his new death metal band Asinhell, whose debut album Impii Hora (Latin for Ungodly Hour), is a tribute to Poulsen's favorite old-school groups. (continue)
