(hennemusic) Journey co-founder Gregg Rolie reunited with the band on stage in Austin, TX on February 22 to perform a series of classic tracks during the group's 50th anniversary tour.
The concert at the city's Moody Center saw Rolie arrive on stage to sing 1979's "Just The Same Way" and the 1975 rarity, "Of A Lifetime", before sharing vocals with drummer Dean Castronovo on "Feeling That Way" and "Anytime" from 1978's "Infinity", with guitarist Steve Lukather from openers Toto joining in for a cover of the Fleetwood Mac classic, "Black Magic Woman" (Rolie famously sang on the 1970 Santana version of the track). Experimenting with psychedelic drugs in the mid-1960s was part of a movement that began redefining youth culture in the mid-1960s. "'67 was the explosion of the drug culture," recalls Keith Richards. "That's when it came into the open from underground; everybody just started talking about it." (continue)

The episode - which will be hosted by Woody Harrelson - will mark the fifth appearance by both the actor and White, who rocked the show in the fall of 2020 as a last-minute fill-in due to issues with country singer Morgan Wallen.
White and his band are on the road playing dates on their Supply Chain Issues tour in support of a pair of 2022 albums - "Fear Of The Dawn" and "Entering Heaven Alive" - both of which debuted in the top 10 on the US Billboard 200 chart. (continue)
Godsmack frontman Sully Erna recently sat down with Audacy Check In to discuss a variety of topics including their new album, "Lighting Up The Sky", the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame eligibility, his 55th birthday and February birthdays in New England growing up. The show sent over these excerpts:
On Lighting Up the Sky being the final Godsmack album [00:40]: "I think it's important for people to just kind of know when they've arrived, when they set goals for themselves. Some people just want the house with the white picket fence and a dog and a truck. And then they get that and they're like, 'Oh, it would be nice to have a car too. And then what if we had a bigger house.' It never stops. For us, it was like, 'Oh, we just want a record deal one day.' And then you get it and you go, 'But, it's gonna be really good when we sell out clubs everywhere.' And then you get it and you go, 'But wait until we get to theaters, we can use more production.' And then you get to theaters, and you're like, 'Tour buses and arenas.' At what point do you stop and just go - I have what I need in my life. I've been able to do this for a living and be able to provide for my family and the people I love the most. And when we reflected back on our career, and I say this zero ego, we've arrived.... I just think it's time now that we close that chapter in our lives, but let the people know that this isn't a break-up. This is just us opening a new chapter in our lives to create this greatest hits show and enjoy our sunset years without the pressure of always having to deliver another record for the label, and missing another year of our lives to write and record and mix and master now." A new animated lyric video for John Lee Hooker's iconic signature hit song "Boom Boom" has been released to celebrate the arrival of Craft Recordings' 60th anniversary special reissues of the "Burnin'" album.
Director Sandra Clua shares, "The idea was to create not just a usual lyric video. In this case, we travel into the Apex Bar in Detroit, where John got the idea for the song. The viewer gets immersed into this dark, neon, dirty, smoky bar full of energy and good music ‒ recreating the atmosphere of a blues bar."
The albums include the original recording of Hooker's highly influential signature hit "Boom Boom" and feature members of the legendary Funk Brothers (Motown Records' celebrated house band). (continue)
Los Angeles alt-rockers VATTICA recently released their brand new single "Back to Life". To celebrate we asked frontperson Alexander Millar to tell us about the track. Here is the story:

Last week's episode of Queen The Greatest Live saw Brian May and Roger Taylor reveal their tactics for starting Queen shows with a bang. Now, on Friday February 24th, Episode 6 of the hit YouTube video series showcases four live performances of "Now I'm Here" - the hard-rock anthem that has opened countless shows and appeared in more Queen setlists than any other song: two classic clips with Freddie from the London Rainbow '74 and London Hammersmith '75 plus Queen and Adam Lambert peformances from Summer Sonic, Tokyo, in 2014 and most recent, from the band's Rhapsody Over London show 2022.
Written by Brian May in the summer of 1974, "Now I'm Here's" piston-pump riff, call-and-response vocal and explosive dynamics made it the ideal song to light the fuse. As Freddie Mercury told Record Mirror, the song also reminded fans that Queen were still rockers at heart. "We released it after 'Killer Queen.' And it's just a total contrast. It was just to show people we can still do rock 'n' roll, we haven't forgotten our rock 'n' roll roots. I enjoyed doing that on stage." (continue)

Nothing More have released a new version of the impassioned single "You Don't Know What Love Means," taken from their 2022 critically acclaimed studio album SPIRITS via Better Noise Music.
Frontman Jonny Hawkins adds to the emotional lyrics and tone by lending his impressive piano skills and enlists rock singer/songwriter Taylor Acorn on guest vocals.
"When I had first heard the original version, I instantly fell in love, so when Nothing More asked me to be a part of the piano version it was truly a no brainer," shares Acorn. "The song is so beautiful and touches on a very similar situation that I was going through in a previous relationship of mine, so it was super easy to connect with. I also love how much, at least to me, the song resembles early Evanescence, which is one of my favorite bands of all time. It's beautiful, it's powerful, and I hope people love it as much as I do."
