With the release of a new book by McKagan, titled How to Be a Man (And Other Illusions), the author has also announced a new three-song EP of the same title.
Stradlin will appear with McKagan on the EP along with fellow Seattle musician Jerry Cantrell of Alice in Chains and Stone Sour drummer Roy Mayorga, resulting in a sort of super group without a name, recording as simply Duff McKagan.
The title track from the EP has been released and it is every bit the barroom, beer-soaked blues jam that might be expected considering the pedigree involved. As for when you can hear the rest, it will be released along with the book on May 12. Stream the new song

"I wrote them a letter, I tried to get in contact with Angus... I've had no contact with anybody," Rudd tells Australia's A Current Affair. "I'm very disappointed, yeah. But that's life," adding, "You know who your friends are, really."
After Rudd recorded "Rock Or Bust" with AC/DC in Vancouver last year, the band hired former member Chris Slade to handle drum duties in his place for the group's world tour, which launched on April 10 at Coachella. "I'm sure they're having a great old time," says Rudd. "I'm sure they're really enjoying playing. I'm sure it really sounds great."
Last month, Rudd pleaded guilty to drug charges and threatening to kill a former assistant at a hearing in Tauranga District Court; he could face up to seven years in jail when he returns for his June 26 sentencing.
"You make your own mistakes and it was a mistake of the charges. We all make mistakes," explains the drummer. "I've seen the errors of my ways... It's onward and upward from here." Read more

Having wrapped up the first leg of a tour with his latest supergroup, The Circle - featuring Michael Anthony, Jason Bonham and Vic Johnson - Hagar says he recently filmed footage at the band's May 2 show at Charlotte Motor Speedway in North Carolina.
"We also filmed the Rebellion show and hanging out backstage, warm-up routine, etc. for my upcoming AXS TV show called 'Sammy Hagar's Rock 'n Roll Road Trip'", writes Hagar on his blog. "The concept is that I go to people's hometown and interview them, jam with them etc., or you go with me on a rock 'n roll road trip and see my routine. I can't tell you when it's going to start being shown yet, but I will keep you up and current."
Hagar already has several episodes in the can. "So far I've interviewed Tommy Lee and jammed with him and Mikey at Tommy's house, walking the Sunset strip etc," says the Red Rocker. "I've also filmed with Mickey Hart and Bob Weir of the Grateful Dead in the San Francisco area, along with Jerry Harrison of the Talking Heads, a neighbor of mine in Marin." Read more

Publisher Jan Wenner serves as the chairman of the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame Foundation, which oversees all elements of the organization. Rolling Stone says: "You can't blame the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame nominating committee for not bringing Deep Purple in. They've put them on the ballot several times over the past few years. It probably has something to do with the fact that the vast, vast majority of voters are American. If the people of Europe had the chance to vote, Deep Purple would have been in years ago."
Electric Light Orchestra land at No. 2 on the list, with Rolling Stone suggesting "maybe ELO were a little poppy and eclectic for the tastemakers of their day, but we have a feeling they'll make it into the Hall Of Fame in the next few years." See who else made the list

The lyrics include the paragraph: "Student bodies lying dead in the halls, a blood splattered treatise of hate. Class dismissed is my hypothesis, gun fire ends in debate."
The case against him was later dropped and the charges erased from his record, while Exodus guitarist Gary Holt described the incident as a paranoid over-reaction.
Now the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) of Kentucky has filed a federal lawsuit on behalf of Evans against Muhlenberg County and police officer Michael A Drake. Drake is charged with making a false declaration as he sought to obtain an arrest warrant for Evans. Read more

It's the fourth tune issued in advance of the record, following "Stormbringer", "Burn" and "Lay Down Stay Down." The group's 12th album sees frontman David Coverdale re-recording classic songs from the Deep Purple Mark 3 and Mark 4 records he appeared on: "Burn" (1974), "Stormbringer" (1974) and "Come Taste The Band" (1975).
In addition to Coverdale, Whitesnake's current lineup includes guitarists Reb Beach and Joel Hoekstra, bassist Michael Devin, keyboardist Michele Luppi and drummer Tommy Aldridge.

Rob played and sang the song backwards (which isn't easy) then reversed the footage so the song plays forwards AND IT WORKS. Plus there's a load of silly string, apples, pretzels, polystyrene and more to keep your eyes occupied while your ears are confused.
And how did it sound while being recorded? Well luckily Rob has released the backwards forwards footage too! Bravo for the time and dedication, we struggle with palindromes. Check it out

Smith declares: "It's not a reformation, it's a reboot." He adds: "I tried to put the old lineup back together but the guys were unable to do it for differing reasons. Then, in the summer of 2014, I started toying with the idea of a new lineup and it came together quite quickly. We're taking it slowly, learning the old stuff and playing with new ideas too.
"Even if it was the old lineup it would be different, it's been 24 years. The main thing is that the goodwill toward Acid Reign has never been stronger, everywhere I go people are saying we should come back and eventually I actually f***ing listened." Read more

Root tells The Des Moines Register, "When you're sort of blindsided by something like that, it kind of makes you wonder what the motivations or intentions are, or why it has to be like that, when really all that needs to happen is a Slipknot record, then we could go back to business as usual later."
He adds, "For whatever reason, it happened and it sort of lit a fire under my a** to realize that it doesn't really matter who you are or what your role is in any particular thing that you do. You always have to be on top of your game, because you never know what is going to happen.
"It definitely made me want to put my nose to the grindstone and hone my skills a little more. When something like that happens, it's like getting dumped."

Celebrating his 67th birthday on his Rock 50 radio show, Ward says: "On a personal note, when I was having some problems in the hospital in November and December - I'd gone through the operations, the first of the operations I had in November and December of 2013.
"I had my iPod and the one song I played practically every day was Cornucopia. It really helped me along to listen to it. I was in pretty bad shape, and I wanted to listen to what I used to be like, at that time. Now I can play it again, though. The bad days have gone. It's passed. But it really helped me when I was in the hospital listening to that song on the iPod." Read more

Morgen says: "Prior to anyone seeing this film, the 'Holocaust deniers,' as I like to refer to them, started writing conspiracy theories about my movie. Now this is before anyone's seen a frame.
"These are people who supposedly like Kurt, I would think, and here's a movie I'm making in which we're gonna share with the world all this material about Kurt, and in fact we're not even going into the last month of his life.
"And so why would they then start writing conspiracy theories about my movie? And that tells you everything you need to know." Read more

They said on Facebook: "It was determined by the building engineer that the building infrastructure was not adequate to support the requirements of the show. In order to ensure the safety of the fans and band, it was decided by the building not to proceed with the show."

He tells the Calgary Herald: "The Stampede did not make the decision to cancel the concert. We were ready to host a safe a successful concert with an equipment load that was safe and approved." He reports: "We truly believe this album contains the best material we have ever produced. The IO Earth sound just keeps on evolving and improving. We feel we are always learning and growing as musicians and composers and New World really showcases that growth. We can't wait for you guys to hear it." Check out the tracklisting

The veteran rockers will bring the curtain down on the Worthy Farm event as they headline on Sunday, June 28 - eight years after their first appearance at the festival.
Frontman Roger Daltrey says: "It's great to be ending this part of a 50-year career at the most prestigious and respected music festival in the world. We'll do our best to close this year's event with a bang, unless of course the fireworks get wet." Read more

Downing tells VH1's That Metal Show: "Those guys have been pretty busy since I left the band. I'm glad that the Priest machine is still rolling, because it would be hard to imagine a world without Priest. And I think that's good. And I'm glad Richie has taken up the baton and has allowed the band to carry on."
As for Redeemer Of Souls, Downing says he has yet to give it a complete listen. "I can't say I heard the whole thing in its entirety yet, but when I get around to it, I will do that, for sure." Read more

The band are in the studio recording Fallen - the follow-up to 2013's No More Hell To Pay. But Sweet has asked his Facebook followers how they would feel if he was to take a back seat on live vocal duties in the future.
He says: "So I can't hit all the high notes like I used to. I try and choose my battles but unfortunately, gravity has taken its toll. How would it go over if we found some young lad who can hit all the high notes and I just play guitar and sing from time to time? Don't go crazy, just wanted to ask out of curiosity."
The suggestion received a mixed response. Read more

Quo have just completed an acoustic tour - now Francis Rossi, Rick Parfitt, Andy Bown, John 'Rhino' Edwards and Leon Cave say they'll return to their "full-throttle, no-nonsense thunderous electric" ways.
Rossi reports: "We've had such a blast with the Aquostic style. But for this tour we're going back to the sound that defines us. I read in the paper that we're splitting up - but we're not finished yet, I can tell you." Read more

Cadillac Ranch Damn, where to start? Cadillac Ranch was one of two songs from our new album co-written by my good friend Jacob Quesenberry and myself. We've known each other for many years now and spent the greater part of that time writing and swapping sad song ideas. However, more specifically I met Jake during the transition period most young men go through, when they're thrown out into the real world for the first time. Yeah, you know the one. The one where you split with your high school sweetheart for the first time, sully in the comfort of sad Lucero songs and try to drink yourself into oblivion. Yeah, the glory years.
Jake had originally written it as a whimsical ode to my infamous younger days. The song was different every time he played it and didn't necessarily ever have a finished version. When I was writing for this album I had a melody stuck in my head I just knew I had heard before...BAM, all of sudden his chorus came rushing back. Nearly 10 years after he jokingly played it for all our friends, I was strumming it in my living room trying to piece it all back together.
When I was 18 and freshly single, me and one of my oldest friends decided to get an apartment together. We had no clue how to do anything, no sense of responsibility and barely enough money between the both of us to eat. We must have been in the right place at the right time, because somehow or another we were accepted to a low income apartment complex directly in the middle of our town. We moved in and continuously celebrated like any teen would...by binge drinking case after case of Natural Light. I think we were able to keep it together for roughly 3 months till the parties started happening. Everyone in our age group either knew about our place or had already participated in the debauchery. We were living the college dream without the dreaded college part. The two bedroom apartment was a cesspool. Beer cans were stacked to the ceiling, dishes left unwashed, cigarette burns on anything and everything that could be burned, and a full size ping pong table that spanned the entire living room(which was more often than not the perfect bed for weary guest). Yeah, we were classy fellows.
Somewhere in the middle of those unforgettable months I had totaled my only means of transportation. Within a week I found an old blue Cadillac Coupe Deville for $600 cash. I knew nothing about cars, but I knew this Cadillac had gold trim, so I handed over the cash without hesitation. I was 18, I had my own place and I owned a beat up Cadillac Coupe Deville that half-ass ran. Life was good. I had always been a fan of classic country music. Many nights in that apartment were spent getting piss drunk and singing along to all the greats. Since I was now the proud owner of a Cadillac, Chris Ledoux's song Cadillac Ranch became our drunken anthem. We just started referring to the place as the Cadillac Ranch and it took off. Anyone and everyone knew it as the Cadillac Ranch, hell, there was even a sign that said so.
There are way too many events that happened in that place to even begin to describe. Long story short, we were two ignorant guys trying to get our sh*t together but failed miserably. But, I think you need that at least at one point in your life. We made it about 9 months and 2 police visits before we were evicted due to complaints. I came out of it with a bruised liver, a depression beard and a new insight on life. It was for the best. I was done. I had never been so happy to leave a place. However, I wouldn't trade the memories made in that place for anything. To this day, the Cadillac Ranch was the best and worst time of my life.
Hearing is believing. Now that you know the story behind the song, listen for yourself and learn more about the album
