Lombardo, who split with Slayer in 2013, is one of the people who's been connected with the vacant Megadeth role - although he's previously said no discussions have taken place.
He tells Metal Ireland: "I've been getting phone calls like, 'Are you going to join this band?' No. I refuse to be someone's employee. I want to work on something I'm a part of, not just a guy that receives a pay check.
"I want to be part of the artist development. An artist, not just a hired gun. I've had enough of that - I need freedom." He adds: "Megadeth has its own style. I'm really busy with my own music."
Lombardo discounts an old rumor that he'd been approached about replacing Lars Ulrich in Metallica during the 1980s. See what he said

Holt tells Full Metal Jackie: "The way we make albums is drastically different, because, you know, Kerry and the guys, they just work tirelessly nonstop for months and months on the record. And personally I get real sick of making albums if I spend too long doing it.
"And Exodus, we build our own studios all the time. We'll do the drums in a proper studio and then we recorded everything else on the goat ranch where Tom lives.
"And Slayer set up shop in a top-flight studio and set up shop there for a long time. The Slayer album is killer, though. People are gonna be blown away." Read more

Drummer Kirke said: "Andy didn't think of himself as a bass player, more a musician who could play anything to 'get the thing going.' When I last saw him he took me for a spin in his car, while he played some tracks he'd written.
"He'd played everything, but it was his singing that surprised me the most. He was a consummate musician. A unique player. We will never see his like again."
Singer Rodgers said simply: "Losing Andy is very personal. No words. Sad day." Quireboys frontman Spike, who was planning to work with Fraser on a project, also discussed Andy

"It's kind of like a turbocharged 5150III," he explains, "and some people are like, 'Huh?' because the standard 5150III is a mega-beast to begin with but it's even hotter."
To fully show the capabilities of the 5150IIIS Stealth, Van Halen himself ran the gear through a thorough demonstration, putting its deep bass contour and seamless switching to the test. And he did so with some of his most beloved riffs, including the ones from "Hot for Teacher" and "Dance the Night Away." Read more and watch the video

Carrying over its unique appointments from the Private Stock Alex Lifeson acoustic, this model features a thinner body depth than PRS's standard Angelus model and the "Birds in Flight" inlay design.
"I was very pleased when PRS presented me with my SE Angelus acoustic, a beautiful guitar of stunning quality," says Lifeson. "It was in response to the challenge of building a guitar that shared the integrity and attention to detail that the Alex Lifeson Private Stock Angelus possesses in a package more broadly accessible.
"The SE Alex Lifeson Thinline is that model. Carefully selected materials, expert craftsmanship and a smart approach to concept resulted in a guitar that is beautiful to look at and rewarding to play." Read more and watch the promo video

"When I am in, I am all in 100%, holding nothing back. I take things very seriously and this time it nearly took me out for good. I had to let them go and for both our sakes. May seem dramatic - to me, it was life and death. I chose life."
He adds: "When I made my decision to step away from Flotsam, life was crushing me and my family." Read more

"It's a tribute. A homage," explains Coverdale. "It's a huge thank you from me to Deep Purple for the opportunity I was given over 40 years ago. As I said to Ritchie, you guys set me on an incredible journey that continues today and I couldn't have asked for better teachers."
Coverdale was with Deep Purple from August 1973 to March of 1976, following which the group disbanded; the Mark 2 lineup of Ritchie Blackmore, Ian Gillan, Roger Glover, Jon Lord and Ian Paice reunited in 1984 and the group has continued - with lineup changes - to this day. Holopainen has explained why working on Our Decades In The Sun, the fifth song on Endless Forms Most Beautiful, proved to be an emotional experience.
Holopainen explains to SpazioRock: "It's a tribute to all of our parents. Maybe the most difficult song to put together because it's so delicate, so intimate.
"The subject of the lyrics is so important to all of us. So there were quite a bit of tears shed while rehearsing and recording it - but it ended up being one of the highlights of the album." Read more
here.
He tells MetalRecusants: "It was automatic, right off the bat. Pepper flew up from New Orleans. He'd been sitting at home listening to stuff and whatever, but the three of us - Mike, Woody and I - hadn't practiced any of the tunes.
"And it was just, like, 'Bam'. We toured so much before, too, and had played together for so long that the 'lizard brain' had started clicking in. But also, Mike Dean, Woody and I had been playing together since we were little kids. We kind of learned how to play music together.
"I'm enjoying the hell out of it, and I think we all are, and I think the audiences are too." Read more and watch the full video interview

Fozzy frontman Chris Jericho had this to say, "To be invited to tour with both the iconic Slash AND the legendary KISS on their sold out KISS Kruise shows how far Fozzy has come in the last few years...and also makes a few more of our dreams that we had as kids come true!! KISS Alive is my all time favorite album and to be able to see them play it in its entirety while supporting them as invited guests BLOWS MY MIND. World domination is next!!"
