The former Stone Temple Pilots and Velvet Revolver frontman discussed the album in a video interview that was posted on YouTube late last week. In describing what fans can expect sonically from the new album, he said, "It's a new sound, but, then again, it's got some big rock riffs, so it'll remind you of the energy of the past."
Fans are getting an early taste of that "new sound" with the release of the album's first single "Way She Moves", which Ultimate Classic Rock compares to the sound of the T. Rex classic "Bang On Gong (Get It On)". You can listen to the track here.
He also discussed the song "Circles" which goes in a different musical direction. "It's got a sort of Appalachia, bluegrass kind of vibe to it," Weiland explained. "It's a beautiful, melodic song."
Weiland says that a lot of songs on the album will tell stories. "If you look at some of the best lyrics in rock 'n' roll -- Bob Dylan -- most of the stuff was stories that he wrote about. Experiences of fictitious people, that's kind of what I did on a lot of these songs."

Last week, the case in Tauranga district court was delayed to April after his lawyer backed out and a new one was confirmed; Rudd's issues will be addressed in a "judge-alone" trail where no jury is present.
While Rudd recently insisted he would continue to work with AC/DC, the band revealed the return of Chris Slade behind the kit over the weekend as they opened the 57th annual Grammy Awards in Los Angeles on Sunday. Read more

The band last toured the U.S. way back in 1991 which famously ended with the band playing their final show together (before their 2013 reunion) at Grant Park in Chicago on July 4, 1991.

The band released the following statement, "To all our fans around the World, it is with regret that Bullet For My Valentine has to announce that Jay James is no longer a member of the band. Jay has been a part of this band for well over 12 years and part of our lives forever, and we're gonna miss him as much as we know you guys are too.
"We wanna wish him all the best and success with whatever he chooses to do next and will always be grateful for his contribution and sacrifices he made for this band.
"We'll announce a replacement for Jay when we feel the time is right, but until then we're gonna be busy and focused recording our next record and making sure it's the best album we've ever made.
"2015 is already shaping up to be a massive year for us with lots of exciting things going on behind the scenes which we'll be announcing as soon as we can. Thank you all for your continued support."
The band posted the following message on their Facebook page, "As most of you know, in the past we have had several touring guitar players in I Am Abomination. One of those guitarists was our good friend Shawn Reed and unfortunately, we learned that he passed away yesterday. Shawn was very talented and a great person, and it is truly a shame that he was taken so early.
"Shawn's family has set up a GoFundMe to help with funeral and burial expenses, Donations are truly appreciated and any amount will help." At press time the goal of $2500 was reached. You can see the pledge page

Topham was just 16 when the band formed in 1963, and under pressure from his parents, he soon dropped out of the group to pursue an arts education. Now, beginning April 3, a retooled edition of The Yardbirds is set to play several dates with Topham in tow.
Rounding out the group are founding drummer Jim McCarty, bassist Kenny Aaronson, blues harpist/vocalist Myke Scavone and singer/guitarist John Idan. Seven dates have been scheduled thus far, all in the Northeast. See the dates

Clearly concerned for the creature's wellbeing, frontman Barney Greenway says: "Don't f***ing hurt him, leave him be." He also asks staff to try direct the bat towards the door.
But the band clearly also see the funny side, as they spontaneously break into the riff from Black Sabbath's self-titled 1970 single. Sabbath singer Ozzy Osbourne famously bit the head off a bat while onstage in 1982. Read more and watch video of the incident

Their last release was 2013's Everblack and Knight says while they're confirmed to play festivals in Slovenia and Switzerland later this year, they also hope to embark on a wider tour across the rest of Europe and the US.
He tells Gear Gods: "We should have a new album out this year. It's currently being written and then we'll be touring - a lot. You'll probably see us around this summer maybe in the States and probably in Europe."
The guitarist also says he's planning to record a solo album to allow him to showcase another side to his playing. Read more and stream the interview

But when Slipknot returned to live action for a string of Sonisphere appearances in Europe in 2011, the fans helped Taylor and co make up their minds about recording what would become .5: The Gray Chapter.
Taylor tells BluntMag: "There really was that question of, 'Do we want to continue?' And starting with those shows, it really helped us get back on our feet - and the fans were able to be there with us.
"That was the first stage of it. We started to see the future a little stronger. 'Okay, we still like doing this, so what's next?' Paul was such a big part of this band, not only as a major contributor and one of the 'chiefs,' but he was also one of the biggest lovers of this band.
"He would get stoked about the music in a way that I've never seen; whether it was his that he was writing or music that other people were bringing in. He could see the potential in everything - and without that there, obviously it kicked the crap out of us." He also spoke about their return to the studio, read that

The short trek is scheduled to kick off on April 9th in Riverside, CA at the Riverside Municipal Auditorium and conclude on April 23rd in Dallas, TX at the Bomb Factory.
In addition to those headline dates, the group will also be taking part in the Northern Invasion Festival in Somerset, WI on May 9th and Steamboat Days in Burlington, IA on June 20th.

Return To Forever will include some vintage Scorpions tracks from the 1980s that were never completed back in the day. Guitarist Matthias Jabs tells The Rockpit that the group had plenty of material to draw on for the new package.
He says: "There had been quite a few over the years, ideas that were really good but in the end didn't make the cut back then due to the limited space on vinyl and later on CD.
"We quickly had eight songs, which partly had to be finalised first and were then recorded from scratch. During the work, increasingly new song ideas were added.
"We had so much fun working and suddenly we found ourselves in the middle of the songwriting process once again. And in the end, it turned out to be a brand-new Scorpions album after all." Read more

And the former Beverly Hills 90210 star says Mustaine's sacking from Metallica and the 2002 arm injury that almost left him unable to play guitar inspired his work in the film.
Perry Tells the Irish Independent: "I thought about the gentleman from Megadeth - Dave Mustaine. He was a guy who had a lot of trouble in his life because of different issues. He got asked to leave one band and started up his own. Something happened to his arm and he was challenged physically to play the guitar.
"I thought, 'There's something inside that guy that really drives him to overcome all those things and find his way back to making music.' So I wondered about that a lot when thinking about the challenges he had to overcome, so there may have been part of where that came from." Read more

The band say in a statement: "We're more delighted than you could ever imagine to confirm the release of Beside The Ones We Love. We've been working solidly on this record for the last 18 months of our lives. It's unquestionably the most solid body of work we've recorded.
"Signing to In At The Deep End Records is huge for us. A label that has launched the careers of bands such as Gallows, November Coming Fire and Architects is a dream home for us to launch ourselves from."

He tells Ishibashi Music: "We're just rebuilding the whole landscape for touring. We've got a lot of people behind us that are really supportive. And what that means is basically reclaiming all the territories around the world, rebuilding all the bridges - just lots of great things happening for Queensryche."
Queensryche last year settled a legal dispute with former singer Geoff Tate, which saw two bands using the name recording and touring at the same time. Tate is now working under the Operation: Mindcrime banner. Read more

Their second album Dirty Fun is released on April 13 via Compulsion Records. It's the follow-up to 2011 debut Beat The Devil. Carlyle says: "When I was a kid, music wasn't something you'd multitask to. When you heard a song like Black Dog for the first time, you'd drop everything you were doing and just listen to it.
"But a lot of today's music seems like sonic wallpaper. There's nothing intrusive or memorable about it, and most of it sounds really polite. We're definitely not going for that." Read more

But proving herself as a more than capable player has helped her win over any sceptics. She tells MetalLife: "It's nice to not be a teenager on the road any more. It's hard being a female on the road, it's even harder being a young female on the road. But I've been really lucky, people have always treated me with a lot of respect.
"The only thing you can do is go out there and make sure your playing leaves no doubt. People are always going to talk but if your playing makes them doubt you then you're never going to get out there. Just make sure you get out there, take no prisoners and leave no doubt." "What a peculiar and exciting experience it is to be simultaneously working on our new record and preparing for another trek across UK and Europe. We couldn't possibly be more excited to share the big stage with Nickelback and make our third trip overseas."

Founder Joel Vandroogenbroeck is joined on the record by longtime UK Subs guitarist Nicky Garratt and musician and producer Jurgen Engler from German industrial outfit Die Krupps. Drummer Jason Willer and singer/keyboardist Kephera Moon, both from Hawkwind co-founder Nik Turner's band, complete the lineup.
Vandroogenbroeck says of album opener Dancing On The Volcano: "From the original Brainticket rhythm, destiny has led us to the South East Asia meditative, mature philosophic concept of life. The last movement of the piece leads us to the sensation of dancing, moving, fully present, living time again." Read more

The track appears in the movie and is also part of the band's forthcoming covers album. The movie, which also stars Robert Englund, Kane Hodder, Danielle Harris and Angelina Armani, is being released on DVD and Blu-Ray today.
The band premiered the music video with Loudwire and guitarist Josh Rand shared this background with them, "The song originally appeared on Metal Church's second album as the title track released in 1986. It was chosen for the movie 'Fear Clinic' by director Rob Hall and Corey as they felt that the lyrics fit well with the story. The song was recorded live in about a half day at Room 237 in Burbank, Calif., in March 2014."

The rare event saw the pair discuss the Led Zeppelin guitarist's photographic autobiography, "Jimmy Page By Jimmy Page." In the first clip available from the session, Page discusses his early years and musical upbringing with host Cornell in front of a live audience at the Ace Hotel Theater on November 12.
The event followed the re-release of Page's book, which sold-out of its limited-edition run of 2,500 copies upon its initial release in 2010 on its way to becoming the fastest-selling book in Genesis Publications' 40-year history.
Page and Led Zeppelin continue their extensive reissues series on Febuary 23 (Feb. 24 in North America) with an expanded reissue of their 1975 release, "Physical Graffiti."

Ad Age reports the tune is one of 15 remixes of Who songs by production agency Mophonics for use in advertising and other licensing opportunities - with the blessing of creator Pete Townshend.
"A lot of work went into these, especially because the respect shown by the remixes to the original songs and song shapes," says Townshend. "I know that makes remixing harder, and less fun for them, but a lot of fun for me."
"The idea of remixing the songs came about because Pete mentioned to his publisher, Spirit, that he had the original multitrack tapes for most of the band's classic songs," adds Kris Roggemann, creative producer at music-production agency Mophonics.

"Whenever we plan a video for a song, Kie is the first person we turn to," says frontman Mikko von Hertzen. "This is the sixth video he himself has done for the band. This time he had the idea of making a simple band video. He visited countless locations before choosing a beautiful spot on an island, just outside mainland Helsinki. The island itself used to be a fortress in the many wars we as a nation have suffered.
"The song New Day Rising is about leaving a place for good in search for happiness and a more fulfilling life. The boats floating by are actually going to different countries; Sweden and Estonia. They are also places where many Finnish people go to let out some steam and party. In essence, the boats you see on the video give the illusion of a better life. In fact these boats never stop going back and forth. As we humans often do."

"War Of Kings is the album we always wanted to make, ever since we were kids listening to bands like Zeppelin, Purple and Sabbath," says Europe's Joey Tempest.
"And after hearing Dave Cobb amazing production for Rival Sons we simply had to work with him. Our adventure is still ON! It's taken 10 years and countless tours since the re-union, but we're finally getting there! And we've done it our way!"
War Of Kings will be released in the UK on March 2 and in the US on March 10. Watch the video

These days, relations seem a bit chilly between former Led Zeppelin bandmates Robert Plant and Jimmy Page. That may be because while Page has made it known that he would have loved to reactivate Led Zeppelin after their triumphant 2007 reunion concert, Plant was clear that the show, for him, was always a one-off, and that he had no intent to rejoin the band that made him famous.
But back in the day, Page and Plant were pretty tight. During the recording of 1976's Presence, Plant was on the disabled list, moving around with the help of a wheelchair or crutches following a serious car accident in Greece the year before.
As anyone who has been unfortunate enough to be on crutches knows, you have to watch the ground, lest your crutch get caught in something and you fall. And, as anyone who has been in a recording studio knows, there are lots of wires and cables on the floor.
And so it happened that the legendary frontman took a pretty harsh spill on the studio floor. As Plant recalled in this interview, Page raced from the control room to help him out. "He was like an Olympic athlete! I'd never seen him move so fast in my life!"
It's not an image we're used to thinking about. Luckily Max Werkmeister, who animated the video above, helps us visualize it. The good news was, although the fall was painful, Plant didn't re-injure anything, thanks to the fact that he was wearing a cast. And after getting that diagnosis from his doctor, he went right back into the studio, and recorded the epic 10-minute-plus Zeppelin classic, "Achilles Last Stand."
If you don't already have Presence in your collection--wait, are you nuts?--don't get it just yet, because later this year, Zeppelin will release an expanded, reamastered version of the album. And speaking of remastered albums, on Feb. 24 they'll reissue the previous album, 1975's Physical Graffiti. Watch the animated clip
