The Death Set Cofounder Dies |
Johnny Siera wrote of his fallen bandmate: "R.I.P. my dear brother, friend and band mate Beau Velasco. We are all so devastated that I will keep this short. We love you and you will be missed. You affected us all so much in the most positive ways. Our lives would not be as is if not for you. We love you. For all those who wish to pay their respects we will let the details be known soon."
The band posted this statement on their news page: Beau Velasco, beloved brother and co-founding member of The Death Set, passed away Sunday, September 27, in Brooklyn, New York. Beau co-wrote the Worldwide album with Johnny Siera, with whom his partnership reaches back beyond The Death Set's beginnings, to Black Panda from Gold Coast, Australia. The Death Set moved from Sydney to the US in 2005, but Beau took a back seat from touring a while later. This original core lineup of the band had recently rejoined to write and record the next record and to resume touring together. At the moment, few details are available about the circumstances of Beau's passing, but information will be shared as soon as possible, including about immediate plans for The Death Set.

New John Mayer Album Details |
Incorporating the warmth, melodies and simplicity of 70's and 80's California rock/pop, Battle Studies is a confessional, relaxed and liberated album recorded in a private home in California where Mayer lived and worked over the course of six months before wrapping at the famed Capitol Studios in Los Angeles.
The album's first single, "Who Says" challenges conventional standards of what one can accomplish or undertake - despite society's constraints. Battle Studies also showcases universal themes on "Heartbreak Warfare," "Assassin," and "War of My Life," while flexing guitar chops on "Rock Song," and a reinterpretation of "Crossroads." The famously collaborative guitar player also invited one of music's brightest new talents, Taylor Swift, to appear on "Half of My Heart."

Own Rod Stewart's Soul This Halloween |
Comments Rod Stewart: "This is the album I've waited my whole lifetime to record. These are the songs that I've danced to, made love to, cried to and yes, even fell on the floor to as a young man in the infancy of my career. These songs and singers were the oxygen that fueled my passion to sing. When I was a skinny, cocky, all-mouth and trousers teenager living in North London without two pennies to rub together, I discovered the artistry of Otis Redding, Sam Cooke, Jackie Wilson, James Brown, The Temptations, The Four Tops and so many more. They were my Gods and my heroes."

Person L Focus on The Positives For New Album |
Following the DIY nature of Initial, Person L's 2008 self-released debut, the band looked to Aaron Marsh, lead musician and producer of the band Copeland, to produce The Positives at his home studio, The Vanguard Room. Marsh helped the band forge a new sound which clearly represents a huge departure from frontman Kenneth Vasoli's former band, The Starting Line. A major contribution was helping them to bring to the fore the band's trademark complex rhythms with their unique use of percussion and two drummers. "We were aiming to keep a very raw and dirty quality to the record while still making it comprehensive and colorful," notes Vasoli.
Person L recently wrapped up dates with Ace Enders and a Million Different people, and have confirmed a co-headlining tour with John Nolan (Straylight Run) this fall. The tour will kick off in Cleveland, OH, on November 10th and will continue through December 12th in the band's hometown of Philadelphia, PA. Prior to these dates, Vasoli will be embarking on a very special solo acoustic tour through Australia in October. The band will also be headlining at World Caf Live in Philadelphia on November 9th for the release party of "Somebody's Gonna Miss Us," the CD/ DVD from The Starting Line.
