Toto's David Paich To Conduct Orchestra At Emmys
PR reports: Legendary Toto founding member David Paich first won an Emmy when he was 20 for the original song, "Light the Way," working with his dad, legendary jazz composer Marty Paich, on the Raymond Burr show Ironside.

Some 35 years later, he'll return to the stage as the conductor and bandleader for the awards show's 61st Primetime Emmys, airing on CBS in prime-time Sept. 20. Having previously worked with executive producer Don Mischer as musical director on the CBS Movies Rock special, Paich will be conducting a group featuring such world-class musicians as his co-musical director Steve Jordan (John Mayer), Ray Parker (of Ghostbusters fame), Daryl Jones (Rolling Stones bassist) and veteran sax player Tom Scott, among others.

"I call it the best garage band in the world," laughs Paich of the ensemble, which will include three guitars, bass, drums, a pair of keyboards and small string and horn sections. "It's leaner and meaner, but we should rock pretty good. It's almost like a big soul group with strings."

Little Feat Live DVD
PR reports: In 1977, Little Feat performed on German TV's favored musical playground Rockpalast. On September 22, Eagle Rock Entertainment, through its Eagle Vision subsidiary, will release this performance on DVD, when Skin It Back: Live In Germany hits stores.

Filmed at the Grugahalle in Essen, this concert was shot just days before the recording of their renowned live album Waiting For Columbus. Featuring the band's classic line-up, late vocalist/guitarist Lowell George leads the band vocalist/guitarist Paul Barrere, vocalist/keyboardist Bill Payne, percussionist Sam Clayton, bassist Kenny Gradney, and drummer Richard Hayward through the 11-song performance. The thirty minutes of never-before-seen alternate rehearsal versions of the songs include "Rock N Roll Doctor," which did not make the cut for the final show.

Formed in 1969, Little Feat is a band without musical boundaries. They meld southern influences, blues and Dixie-land boogie, with R&B, folk and rock into jam band perfection. Getting their start after George left Frank Zappa's Mothers of Invention, the band's blend of top-notch musicianship and earthy, organic groove made them musical staples. This is perfectly captured on the Skin It Back DVD.

Winger Album and Tour Plans
Mazur reports: Frontiers Records proudly announces the release of Winger's fifth studio album entitled "Karma" on October 16 in Europe and October 27 in the USA.

Winger reunited after more than a decade in 2006 for the release of the successful come back album entitled "IV," a record that pushed the boundaries of Winger's classic sound to new heights, dealing with the concept of the military life and what it was like to be a soldier, from a soldier's perspective, leaving politics at the door. "After Winger 'IV' we toured the United States, Europe, Australia, and Japan, during which we made a live record," said Kip Winger. "When the chance came up to do a new Winger record, I envisioned an upbeat totally rocking record that was a cross between the first Winger album and 'Pull.' So Reb and I sat down and wrote all the music in a month or so. I worked for six months to finish it in the classic Winger style."

The result is an amazing new record where the four band members, Kip Winger (bass and vocals), Reb Beach (guitars now also in Whitesnake), Rod Morgenstein, and John Roth, shine with an incredible instrumental and vocal prowess at the service of superb hard rock songs, but with an uncanny sense of melody. The title itself, "Karma," represents Winger completing its full musical circle, as Kip Winger explained, "We were discussing the very interesting path the band has had and we have all been through so much together. So we went for 'Karma,' as this is a word that truly sums up the experience of being in the band."
