Guns N' Roses Tour Announcement Coming? |
While the HT...GTH report is pretty sparse (they are simply running a screen capture of the banner), Blabbermouth has dug up more details. Here is part of their reports: Canadian concert promoters Gillett Entertainment Group (Groupe Spectacles Gillett) have launched a countdown on their web site to a "major announcement" that will be made on Monday, October 19 at 7:00 a.m. EST.
The accompanying image, which can be seen at the full story link, features a close-up of Guns N' Roses singer Axl Rose's mouth [and red stars that tie in with Chinese Democracy], which suggests that some Canadian dates may be in the works for the GN'R band.
Opeth Members In Bus Crash |
Guitarist/vocalist Mikael kerfeldt updated fans on what happened: Myself, Axe, Fredrik and our soundman, Pontus Norgren decided to fly home to our families for a few days as the option would have been three days off in Brussels. Now I hear that our bus apparently crashed into this other car making a unexpected U-turn in the middle of the highway. Mendez and Per were on the bus together with the rest of our crew but nobody got hurt. They are however shocked and very shaken of course. The driver in the other car was critically injured. I've not heard back from anyone yet regarding his progress but apparently it's not looking very good. Hoping for the best however.
I don't know where or when this happened but I know the bus was heading from Dublin to Brussels. I'll let you know more as soon as I get some information, but as for now everyone in the band are safe and same with our crew. As far as I know the only injured person was the driver of the other car, which obviously is horrible enough!

Garth Brooks Coming Out of Retirement |
Here is the official announcement: The Chairman of the Board and CEO of Wynn Resorts describes the first time he saw Brooks perform for friends: "Everything about Garth's performances--his artistry, the range of his voice and connection with his audience--is something that I haven't seen since the Rat Pack. In show business, for a single performer to lift an entire audience emotionally to the point where they pray it doesn't end, is an extraordinary and unique thing that only a few gifted people can do. But that is what I experienced when I saw Garth on stage, alone with his guitar, doing a history of his personal journey in music. I watched a man create instant love in real time, right before my eyes. Now we have the privilege at Wynn and Encore in Las Vegas to share this extraordinary, intimate experience with everyone," says Wynn.
"Steve Wynn has done what I thought was impossible. He has given me a chance to sing again for the people, while at the same time never missing a day with my children," says Brooks. "I am naturally nervous, but it feels good to be out from under the low ceiling of 'retirement' I put on myself."

Singled Out: Saosin |
This song came about towards the end of the record. We had already recorded a batch of songs with producer Butch Walker, and Chris and I had self produced another 5 or songs ourselves. We still felt like the record needed some more songs to round out the records sound. So we sat down again to write a few more songs. We came up with the main intro riff, and a basic chorus melody that we basically built the song around.
The song has a lot of different issues that it touches, although most people will probably not dive that far into the lyrics. Environmental issues like global warming affect us whether we know it or not. The beginning lyrics hint at our actions of yesterday affecting our futures. And the bridge could be interpreted as people only looking out for themselves, because they feel like everything else is unsalvageable.
I think about the chorus as me trying to reach out to those people, with no success, and not being able to relate to their ways. All in all I'd like to think of the song that would inspire hope and change, even though at first glance it seems very dark.
Hearing is believing. Now that you know the story behind the song, listen for yourself and learn more about the album
