gizmodo.com reports: With a higher price than regular albums, no lossless audio and virtually no device support, iTunes LP seems like a hard sell. Turns out, it might be lame for musicians too-at least, the ones without platinum records. I spoke with Brian McKinney, who runs Chocolate Lab Records, a smallish label out of Chicago. As someone who actually makes records, he saw potential in iTunes LP, and after seeing how incredibly simple the actual LP files are, started looking into making some himself. It didn't go so well:
"I contacted the digital distribution manager at my label's distributor. He had a conference call with an iTunes rep and asked how we go about putting an LP together. He was told that LPs aren't being offered to indies and that there are only about 12 LPs being offered right now. They also said that iTunes charges a $10,000 production fee for them as well. So that pretty much edges out the indie market completely."Deflecting criticism that it's just another way to squeeze a few extra dollars out of customers, Apple pitches iTunes LP as a way to bring back "the visual experience of the record album" (Which they helped kill in the first place. Penance, or something!)

PR reports: Singer/songwriter Diane Birch's passion for American music, which includes everything from the delta blues to Motown, California surf music, Top 40 pop and south Philly soul, mirrors the same eclectic influences that inspired Daryl Hall, so it seemed a natural pairing to put the two together for the 24th and latest installment of Live From Daryl's House, available starting on Oct. 15.
Birch's S-Curve Records debut, Bible Belt, was written entirely by Diane and recorded in New York and New Orleans, with Grammy-winning producers Steve Greenberg, soul legend Betty Wright and Michael Mangini at the helm.
Birch was born in Michigan, but moved to Zimbabwe with her South African-born parents, who were missionaries; migrating to South Africa and then Australia before returning to Portland, Oregon when she was a teenager. An extraordinarily accomplished keyboardist, whether on piano, Rhodes, Wurlitzer or Farfisa, Diane has been compared to fellow singer-songwriters Laura Nyro and Carole King, as well as Elton John and Jerry Lee Lewis. Rolling Stone calls her "Amy Winehouse-style retro pop, minus dysfunctionHer welterweight voice is strong and fetching." The Huffington Post's David Wild said: "I've just heard the future of singer-songwriters and her name is Diane Birch. Bible Belt is more than welcoming it's downright thrilling."

Adrenaline reports: Heavy metal juggernauts Dethklok have exploded onto the Billboard Top 200 again with the release of "Dethalbum II ", selling nearly 45,000 copies in its first week!! The ferocious new record from the stars of the Adult Swim series Metalocalypse debuted at #15 on the Billboard Top 200 six spots higher then their debut album "Dethalbum" back in 2007.
Metalocalypse creator Brendon Small had this to say about the chart debut of DETHKLOK'S "Dethalbum II": "I'm both happy and humiliated that DETHALBUM 2 reached number 15. Happy because we beat the first DETHALBUM numbers and humiliated to have been beaten by our second album numbers by ourselves. Either way we're still not as good as the Archies and I never want to forget that. Having said all of that, dear god I am fantastic and talented."
The September 27 release of Metalocalypse: Dethklok's "Dethalbum II " coincides with the start of Season 3 of Metalocalypse on Adult Swim in November. The third season of Metalocalypse will pick up right where Season 2 left, and this season the episodes will be thirty minutes long.
