Steven Tyler Backtracks on Aerosmith Split |
AceShowBiz reports that Tyler attended the 2009 Glamour Women of the Year awards on Monday and when asked if he was leaving the band, he responded, "does it look like I'm leaving Aerosmith?" He then reportedly added, "You know what it is, it's those people who are putting out Joe's [Perry's new solo] album." Actually it came from the following comments that Tyler made to Classic Rock magazine, " I don't know what I'm doing yet, but it's definitely going to be something Steven Tyler: working on the brand of myself Brand Tyler."
Joe Perry spoke to the Las Vegas Sun after those comments were published and said, "Steven quit as far as I can tell. I don't know any more than you do about it. I got off the plane and saw online that Steven said he was leaving. I don't know for how long." And then on Monday he wrote on his Twitter page that the rest of the band were "positively looking for a new singer to work with."
- Steven reportedly jammed with Joe on Tuesday night
Video Director Accuses This Providence of Plagiarism |
I am ashamed at the lack of integrity coming from This Providence and their record label. I submitted a treatment for their song "Keeping on Without You" in early October.
The band/label/management passed on my idea and moved on with another director. Now weeks later, I see the premiere of the music video for said song. There are numerous elements syphoned from my treatment and implemented into the final video.

Fear Factory Release First Song From New Album |
Announced last week, Mechanize bridges the musical gap between between 1995's groundbreaking Demanufacture and 1998's more texturally nuanced Obsolete. While the album is instantly reminiscent of Fear Factory's most potent moments of discovery, it's hardly a stroll down the old assembly line. Through a combination of technological advancements and experience, Fear Factory have evolved like a computer virus, constantly reconfiguring itself to maximize its destructive impact.
In the six years that have passed since Fear Factory originally splintered, lots of transformation has taken place. Bell has formed the gothic rock band Ascension Of The Watchers and recently formed the new band City Of Fire (also featuring Stroud with Terry Murray and Bob Wagner of ShoCore) while Cazares has put out two Divine Heresy discs and toured extensively. Stroud and Hoglan have recorded and toured with Strapping Young Lad, Zimmers Hole and Dethklok. For Bell, the myriad of projects have only provided creative ideas and inspiration for Fear Factory. He notes, "in this day and age you gotta keep busy. You can't just rely on one band; something we've all learned from time and years of experience. Not only is it good to support yourself, but it also keeps you going creatively."

Metallica Going South |
On Monday they said, "We are super psyched to confirm that we will indeed be visiting South America in the first part of the year. It is extra special because we're actually going to places that Metallica has NEVER played before, including our first show in the new year in Lima, Peru on January 19, 2010 at Estadio San Marcos."
But that apparently wasn't enough because on Tuesday they announced they will also be touring Central America, "We are looking forward to visiting cities we have never played before . . . San Jose, Costa Rica and Panama City, Panama to be specific. And as we've only had the chance to visit Caracas and Bogota once before in 1999, this leg of the World Magnetic tour is sure to be a memorable one.

Neal Morse To Release Live 3-CD Set |
The challenge of bringing these songs to life requires some of prog's best musiciansa lot of them. In Europe, Neal came to know his band by chance email from an unknown Dutch drummer: Collin Leijenaar. Collin was trying to persuade Neal that his group of friendsall tremendous Morse fanscould not only play Neal's material, but own it. Three and half hours worth. With one week's rehearsal.
Morse wasskeptical, to say the least. The unknown performers were up against Mike Portnoy, Kerry Livgren, Roine Stolt, Steve Hacket, Jordan Rudess, Phil Keaggy, Randy George, Pete Trewavas, Kevin Gilbert, and the cast of Spock's Beard. Neal had been down many roads he never expected, though, and something told him to take this one. The entire tour was booked before Neal even met his band.
