Coldplay Accused of Stealing Another Song |
"My son brought it to my attention and said: 'Doesn't that sound like 'Foreigner Suite?'" the musician, now known as Yusuf Islam, told Reuters. "The song definitely sounds like it," he said of his song. "It has such logical chords and the melody has to be what it is..."
Asked during a telephone interview from London whether he would pursue the issue legally, Islam, 60, said "it depends on how well Satriani does."
[Interesting: since Satch says the Coldplay song was lifted from his tune, does this mean Satch lifted it from Cat?]

Coheed and Cambria Join Heaven & Hell Tour |
Coheed and Cambria, the progressive rock outfit who are recording their fifth album, are also spreading their wings by playing to new audiences in 2009 creating more visibility in the metal world, as well as the jam and indie circles more than ever. Earlier this year, the band supported the heavy metal juggernaut, Slipknot, and now mix that with varied festivals such as Mountain Jam, Bonnaroo, Lollapalooza, and Austin City Limits it's hard to find a current band that can stretch those kinds of boundaries.
There is another reason for Coheed supporting H&H. Black Sabbath (Dio version) was Claudio and Travis' favorite group growing up, and Claudio's very first concert - at NY's Beacon Theater in October of 1992. "The night would prove to be one of the most influential of my life. I got the overwhelming feeling that the whole stage was alive--the lights seemed to be as controlled by the sounds as everyone there, and I would exit the venue that night with a fire lit under me."
Metallica Fans Finally Get Their DVD |
Here is what they had to say on their website: Over the years many of you have asked about the film footage used in the video for "One" and now that cult classic, Johnny Got His Gun, is available on DVD. Including bonus features and our video for "One," the movie tells the story of an American soldier wounded on the last day of World War I as he relives his life through strange dreams, memories, and conversations with Jesus.
The screenplay was written by Dalton Trumbo (he also wrote the book in the 1930's), who later went on to achieve fame for his work on Exodus and Spartacus in the '60's.

Legendary Guitars Going on Tour |
The "Legends Collection" will feature three of rock's most famous guitars - Eric Clapton's "Blackie" Fender Stratocaster and Gibson ES-335, as well as Stevie Ray Vaughan's "Lenny" Fender Stratocaster. Purchased for over $2.4 million from the Clapton Crossroads Centre charity auction at Christies New York in 2004, these three guitars are among the most treasured guitars in rock history.
Assembled in 1973 by Eric Clapton himself from the parts of several guitars, Clapton played "Blackie" almost exclusively on stage and in the studio from 1973-1985, recording hits such as "Cocaine," "I Shot The Sherriff," "Wonderful Tonight," "Further On Up The Road," "Lay Down Sally" and various live versions of "Layla" as well as being featured on several album covers and videos. His Cherry Red Gibson "ES-335" was used to record Cream's versions of "Badge" and "Crossroads" as well as many other historical performances during the 40 years he owned it. Steve Ray Vaughan's "Lenny," which Guitar Center purchased for $623,500, was used to record his classic love songs including "Lenny" and "Riviera Paradise."

High Def Diana Krall |
This DVD showcases Krall performing standards such as "Where Or When," "Too Marvelous For Words," "I've Grown Accustomed To His Face," and Hal David and Burt Bacharach's "Walk On By," among others. What makes this performance so special is that Krall recreates these classics, imbuing them with her unique fusion of jazz, samba, and bossa nova. The bonus feature "Conversations" provides an intimate interview with Diana and her band during their stay in Rio de Janeiro, the city that she credits for inspiring her fascination with these latin styles. Also included is the new video for "The Boy From Ipanema."

Singled Out: Evanscapps (Lynyrd Skynyrd/.38 Special) |
The song "Innocence" was a musical passage that Ean had played for me. Just like a lot of the songs on the CD, he had written the music as well as a title. On this one, he had written the lyrics on the chorus, "now I finally found my innocence" and the radio man parts, "you're free to go now."
This rang true to me at that moment in my life as I had been struggling so hard for so long to make a mark as a singer/songwriter. Every door I knocked on was slammed in my face. I was told "you're too young" for many years, you need to do this or that and trust me, I did everything!!! Then one day I was told, "you're too old!!!"
