Free Pete Doherty Download |
Dot Allison co-wrote and sings on "Sheepskin Tearaway," and his Babyshambles bandmates play throughout, but the biggest impact on the album was the inimitable presence of another unique English artist. "Graham Coxon ended up playing on most tracks," Peter beams. "He was probably in the studio more than I was, to be honest," he notes with a wink.
So, having laid himself bare, Peter has left himself open for critical analysis, but, for once, he is ready for it. "I'm really curious to find out what people honestly think of [the songs] , particularly critics, because in a way you can kind of bank on certain people's opinions, you know? You know that if someone's into you then they're into you, whereas critics are gonna look at it less subjectively and pick holes if you like. That's what I'm waiting for really."

Vh1's Longwinded Announcement about the Anvil DVD |
"Anvil! The Story of Anvil" is the directorial debut of screenwriter Sacha Gervasi ("The Terminal") and was produced by Rebecca Yeldham ("The Kite Runner" and "The Motorcycle Diaries"). The film follows Steve "Lips" Kudlow and Robb Reiner and their band, Anvil, which released one of the heaviest albums in metal history, 1982's Metal on Metal. The album influenced an entire musical generation of rock bands, including Metallica, Slayer, and Anthrax, who all went on to sell millions of records. Anvil, on the other hand, took a different pathstraight to obscurity. The film is both entertaining and touching as it follows their last-ditch quest for the fame and fortune that has been so elusive to them. "Anvil! The Story of Anvil" is a timeless tale of survival and the unadulterated passion it takes to follow your dream, year after year.

Cursive has also today announced a run of tour dates in April and May, kicking off April 24th in St. Louis, MO and ending May 9th in Chicago, IL. The band is currently on the road for a series of shows leading up to a number of performances at this year's SXSW. Full itinerary below.
Mama, I'm Swollen is the sixth studio album by Cursive, the latest installment in a long line of conceptual albums - which include 2000's Domestica, 2003's The Ugly Organ, and 2006's Happy Hollow - that have been lauded by critics and fans alike over the band's decade-plus career. This time dealing with the universal - characters grappling with the human condition, social morality, and what it means to be an 'adult' in 'civilized' society - Mama, I'm Swollen wrestles with life's miseries and mysteries in the uniquely literate, lyrical, and self-reflexive fashion for which Cursive has become known.

DoSomething.org, one of the largest teen organizations in America, announced today the launch of a national campaign to raise awareness about teen dating abuse. Celebrities, politicians and parents have been reluctant to speak out on such a hot issue. But teens are stepping up to raise awareness by participating in DoSomething.org's 1 in 3 Campaign which calls attention to the statistic that 1 in 3 teens is a victim of physical, verbal, emotional or online abuse.
"1 in 3 teens is abused in a relationship! That is such horrifying statistic your friend, your neighbor or your teammate could be a victim. Not enough people are talking about it, and certainly not enough people are doing anything about it.
