J.B. Beverley & The Wayward Drifters Want To Give Country Back Its Kick |
The band is poised to release their new album May 5th on Helltrain Records. Watch America Roll By was recorded at J.B.'s Rebel Roots Studio in Richmond, VA. Described by an onlooker as "an organic road record that may as well have soil falling off its roots", the album is the follow up to their much-praised debut, Dark Bar and a Jukebox. The core of the Drifter's life is touring, so a string of dates start on March 11 and stretch into May.
A "retired" hobo, Beverley takes his experiences from the road, the trains, and everyday American people he encounters, and them into some of the most heartfelt, real-deal country music to see the light of day in a long time. With driving acoustic rhythm guitar, slamming upright bass slapping, amazing banjo rolls, and other blistering accompaniment, Beverley and his "high lonesome" voice have earned a solid reputation for their live shows. The band have toured extensively with Hank Williams III and often share the stage with compatriots like Wayne "The Train" Hancock, Dale Watson, Lee Rocker and Bill Kirchen. They've also has made fans out of the likes of John Carter Cash, Slim Jim Phantom of the Stray Cats, Bruce Springsteen, and Piedmont Blues great Warner Williams.
