Sacred Oath Set Release
Chipster reports: Sacred Oath are preparing to release their latest offering, 'Sacred Oath.' Release dates for both the standard and deluxe version of the CD have been set for May 12th (US, Canada).

The official version contains 10 songs in a jewel case. The deluxe edition has 14 songs and is packaged in an elaborate digipack with a 16 page lyric and photo booklet.

All four bonus tracks in the deluxe package are additional brand new songs. Why two editions? "Pricing, really" says Rob Thorne. "Old-school Oathbangers won't have any qualms paying $14 for the deluxe, but newcomers to the band might, and we're working on an exclusive with iTunes to feature the album at a discounted price. You just can't do that with 14 songs." - more on this story

Stephen King of Indie-Pop Chris Robley Takes His Horror Show On The Road
PR reports: Referred to as the "Stephen King of indie-pop", Chris Robley, with his band The Fear of Heights, is on the road touring in support of the new Chris Robley & The Fear of Heights' album, "Movie Theatre Haiku" (Cutthroat Pop Records).

After recording his first two solo albums with Norfolk & Western's Adam Setzer (Robley is also a sometimes-member of Norfolk & Western), he opted to get some fresh ears involved for "Movie Theatre Haiku," tracking at Mike Coykendall's Blue Room (M. Ward, Bright Eyes, Beth Orton) and Rob Stroup's 8 Ball Studios. Mixing and additional production was provided by Portland audio guru Jeff Stuart Saltzman (Stephen Malkmus, Sleater-Kinney, Dolorean).

"I'm excited about the songs on this record because they're all kind of neo-formalist pop tunes that are accessible, but I hope they're also able to provoke a little nervous anxiety in the listener because of the dense arrangements and the frequent key changes," comments Robley. "I find that working within the limitations of the pop song format is a more rewarding challenge. I tried to make sure all the experimental bits and strange sounds serviced the song first." - more on this story
