ZZ Top Still Riding The Charts |
Metric Are Sellouts |
Released on April 14th via the band's own Metric Music International (aka MMI or Me Myself and I), Fantasies is the best-selling Metric album ever in the U.S. It debuted #1 on Billboard's Heatseaker Chart and skyrocketed into the Billboard's Top 100 albums chart the following week.
The band stopped in to play live sets at both KROQ and KCRW (for the show Morning Becomes Eclectic) among others and appeared on the June 18th episode of the Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson.

Q-Tip's Chinese Democracy Finally Gets Release Date |
A musical hybrid, Kamaal was commendably avant-garde at the time of its creation. Amazingly, it's even more apropos in 2009; given the dearth of musical merit and capable MCs in today's hip-hop, the time is ever-so-right for Tip.
Kamaal the Abstract is an intensely idiosyncratic and revealing record. To that end, Q-Tip produced the entire album himself, even playing several instruments. What comes from Kamaal is a daring mlange of soul, supa-cool jazz, headnodding hip-hop, and organic pop magic in the vein of Stevie Wonder or Prince. Check for the superlative figures of saxophonist Kenny Garrett, a one-time member of Miles Davis' ensemble, on the breathy "Abstractionisms." Or the fluid flute lines of Gary Thomas, another Davis sideman, on "Do U Dig U." Elsewhere, note Tip's ambitious production, arrangements, and even sung stylings.
The 69 Eyes Declare Their New Album the New Appetite For Destruction |
With blood on their hands and AC/DC on their stereo, the bloodsuckers have combined their past to focus on the future. Turning their back on the comic book glam of 'Angels', The Eyes have opened a heavier chapter in their musical career. For the first time this decade, honorary sixth vampire Johnny Lee Michaels has been granted temporary leave from the batcave and Matt Hyde (Slayer/Monster Magnet) has been invited over the threshold to produce the record.
"He's cleaned the table and dusted the skeletons!" singer Jyrki 69 laughs. "It's like when Rick Rubin helped The Cult discover them on 'Electric' - we made a similar spiritual journey with Matt."
Ronnie Milsap Does Some Soul Searching |
"This recording of inspirational songs is going to set a brand new mark for me, especially. My fans, they have indicated they've wanted this for so long," Milsap explains, "And I was shy to do this for a long time because I didn't necessarily want to show the inside of my soul. It was easy to hide behind 'Daydreams About Night Things' or 'There's No Getting Over Me' or 'Stranger In My House.' It was easier to hide behind those big hits. Nobody ever asked me to dig deep inside of your spirit and expose that. That's why it took me a while to be able to do that."
Born in the Smoky Mountains of western North Carolina, Milsap lived in extreme poverty. His family brought him to church revival after church revival in the hopes that a divine intervention would cure their child of his blindness. A young Milsap left those revivals defeated, as his family presumed his own lack of faith prevented the miracle cure from happening. Throughout this, Milsap's faith was unwavering. At the age of six he moved to Raleigh to attend a state school for the blind and it was there he discovered his musical talents, which he then applied in church. Ironically it was an encounter with Ray Charles, another vision impaired musician who often performed gospel music, which inspired Milsap to focus on music as a career.

Ride for A Cure 09 A Success |
"We have seen this event double in size every year and we are so grateful for all the artists and fans support. We want to see a cure and we believe TJ Martell has the means and the resources to make that happen in our lifetime. I had the chance to talk to a guy who was riding his brother's bike on Sunday. His brother had passed from cancer two years prior and he was there to ride in his honor. That's the kind of story that fuels this event," states Karen Fairchild of Little Big Town.
Presented by Roberts and Lyons, the event featured a motorcycle ride from the Harley-Davidson of Cool Springs to the Harley-Davidson of Columbia, a barbecue lunch provided by Applebee's and a post ride performance by Little Big Town and friends.
