Allstar Tribute To Love and Rockets Set For Release |
It's been nearly a quarter of a century since one of the most celebrated, and influential bands of our generation, Love and Rockets formed. In 1985 Daniel Ash (guitars, saxophone, and vocals), David J (bass and vocals) and Kevin Haskins (drums, synthesizers) departed from being gothic rock icons with the highly coveted Bauhaus and merged sparkling new wave disco dust influenced T Rex boogie, rockabilly, punk, folk, proto-rave, and psychedelia into one big ball of confusion. Their electric and eclectic blends, makes them cross over from far left to extreme right in one quick swoop which not only leaves their music timeless and classic but most memorable and to be shared, listened to and indulged in any decade.
So it's only natural that eventually similar minded multi-facted artists including both legends such as Frank Black, Flaming Lips, Stephen Perkins (Janes Addiction) Dandy Warhols, Snowden, and newer buzzworthy acts A Place to Bury Strangers, War Tapes, and Blakq Audio pay their respect to a band whom had influenced their style. Indeed, it all does circle back into one big ball of confusion.

AIR Announce New Album |
Nestled in the leafy backstreets of northern Paris, Atlas provided a creative haven for the band to produce these twelve new songs, recording and producing for the first time entirely by themselves. These recording sessions again saw the band handling all vocal duties and cemented their association with LA-based drummer/percussionist Joey Waronker, who had previously joined them for their intimate, three-man "Close up" tour of south-east Asia in the Fall of 2008. Stphane "Alf" Briat, a long-time fixture of the Paris music scene, whose work with AIR dates back to some of their earliest material, came on board for the final mixdown at Atlas.
A viral single "Do The Joy" will be made available digitally on July 7th, followed by a formal single release for the summery pop anthem "Sing Sang Sung" on August 25th.

The London-based band was hand picked by Tori Amos to open for her on this upcoming North American tour. The dates kick off on July 10th at Seattle's WaMu Theater, and then continue through mid-August (see attached itinerary.)
The brainchild of singer/songwriter Kristian Leontiou, One eskimO arrives with an impressive breadth of imagination that instantly marks them as something extraordinary. Produced by Rollo Armstrong (Faithless, Dido), the music is an ambitious and affecting collection of widescreen modern pop, alive with iridescent textures and intricately crafted songcraft. Songs like "Hometime" and "Kandi" (featuring an indelible chorus sampled from Candi Staton's classic "He Called Me Baby") are moving and expressive, touching upon such universal themes as love and heartbreak, success and failure. The band's "Givin Up" has already been featured on Los Angeles' KCRW and was a "Song of the Day" pick

Brendan Benson Announces Summer Album Release |
My Old, Familiar Friend is a marriage of passion and perfectionism and an illustration of all that is special about Brendan Benson. From the seductive glimmer of "Feel Like Taking You Home" to the Motown swoon of "Garbage Day" Benson has shaped his restless-hearted stories into songs that fit together with exquisite neatness. Benson's musical approach is detailed, craftsman-like and fastidious. Take for instance "A Whole Lot Better," the first US single, in which harmonies, hand-claps and guitar are layered to produce a work of heart-felt buoyancy- a work that culminates in the sweet, dove-tailing swoop of its refrain: "I fell in love with you/ And out of love with you/ And back in love with you/ All in the same day." The album is comprised of songs that arrive perfectly formed and immaculate, the sound of a classic singer/songwriter operating at the top of his game.
