Vic Chesnutt, Fugazi's Guy Picciotto At The Cut |
Recorded by former Arcade Fire member Howard Bilerman at Montreal's Hotel2Tango studio, At the Cut focuses on themes of cowardice, courage, mortality, tenacity, defiance, mourning and memory. The opening track, "Coward," was originally written for director (and Chesnutt collaborator) Jem Cohen's Empires of Tin and premiered in a live performance by Chesnutt and his band at the 2007 Vienna Film Festival.
Reflecting the broad stylistic range of contributors on the album, the songs on At the Cut span the musical spectrum from classic Vic Chesnutt solo acoustic tracks to the sweeping walls of noise and snarling, angular guitars trademarked by his many collaborators. To be made available on CD and LP, the album's artwork features original and found photography by Jem Cohen.

Dylan, Eagles Sideman and Songwriter Vince Melamed Sets Solo Release |
What Matters Most is a gallery of Melamed's self-penned hits and a sampling of powerful but lesser known songs that spotlights his genius as a songwriter and performer. While revisiting some of his signature hits for artists like Trisha Yearwood and Phil Vassar, Melamed lays in material that charts new territory for this seasoned artist.
"I had been writing in L.A. whenever I was off the road and enjoyed some success," says Melamed (cuts with Cher, Tina Turner, Phoebe Snow). "When I came to Nashville to work with Rosanne Cash, I found a community of other L.A. transplants who convinced me that this was the place to be if I wanted to get serious about songwriting. I agreed. I listened, wrote and co-wrote and was fortunate to find a niche in this town of highly supportive and creative music people."

Ratt N' Roll On The High Seas |
Ratt are known for mega glam metal hits like "Round and Round," "Lay It Down" and "Back for More." Ratt will rock your face off and party hard with fans aboard ShipRocked. Who knows? You might even hear a choice cut or two from the band's new album, due sometime this fall.
On ShipRocked, it's all about the music - but other activities abound like exclusive meet and greets with the artists, theme nights, heavy metal karaoke, contests, charity auctions and maybe even a few all-star jam sessions!
"The biggest advantages ShipRocked has over other land-based festivals are intimacy and access," says ShipRocked promoter Alan Koenig. "The venue and audience size are smaller, so the performances are much more up close and personal than they would be otherwise. Plus it is substantially easier for the bands to meet and greet all of their fans onboard, versus just a few people before or after a show. Add to that a number of other unique interactive events hosted by the artists and our guests will have plenty of opportunities to spend some quality time with their idols."

Kaki King Random Guitar Art |
The project, which began this past spring, culminates on August 7th at Littlefield Gallery in Brooklyn, NY, at 7pm. The gallery is located at 622 Degraw Street between 3rd and 4th Avenues in the Gowanus/Park Slope neighborhood.
Sprung from the idea of using paint to visually represent the wide range of movement of King's virtuosic guitar playing, The Exhibition has now grown to involve much more than just paint. Each artist/fan was given the blank canvas of a guitar to shape, break, build, and form around the theme of a King song of their choice. Hailing from all corners of the United States, each artist has taken his or her guitar in wildly different directions that range from ant farms, to delicate etchings and even to creating an explosion! Many are also incorporating Kaki's hand movement into their design.
