Misery Index Revisited |
Metal Mind Productions will re-issue "Retaliate" on 27th July in Europe and 8th August in USA (via MVD). New digipak edition is limited to 1000 copies.
Misery Index isn't your average death metal or grindcore band. This is violent music driven to the edge of perfection. To put it simple - these guys deliver all the goods and more. It all started back in 2001, when three members of the death/grind legend Dying Fetus Jason Netherton (bass, vocals), Sparky Voyles (guitar) and Bruce Greig (guitar) left their original band and along with drummer Matt Byers formed Misery Index a group that was never planned to exist in the first place.
Testament World Tour Continues With New Legs |
The band has been touring non-stop in support of their award-winning album, Golden God Album of the Year award, The Formation of Damnation, including this year's "Priest Feast" tour in Europe with Judas Priest earlier this year and a phenomenal run on the "Metal Masters" tour last summer with Heaven and Hell and Motorhead.
Upon their return in August, the band will be making a stop in NYC for a special taping of SIRIUS XM's Artist Confidential series. Artist Confidential features the most important and timeless artists in music sitting down for candid interviews, intimate conversations with fans and live performances.
Minor Authority Plan to Prove That Punk Is Not Dead |
"We're not like other typical 'punk' bands today," explains lead guitarist and vocalist Nate "B.W." Harris. "Our message is mainly based around the punk rock lifestyle. It's not about fashion or how cool your new green mohawk and lip ring is. It's about staying true to yourself and never backing down to anything no matter how hard they smack you down. Get back up and look 'em dead in the eye." His message is successfully translated on Minor Authority's 'Punk Side Up' with songs like "Cities Burn", "Liberty Bell", "Graffiti", "Survivalism", the title song "Punk Side Up", and "Armstrong Avenue", a tribute to Harris' hero, Tim Armstrong of Rancid. "His lyrics and ins piration saved my life when I was growing up. I felt it fair that I should write a song about him," says Harris.
Along with Nate Harris (whose father Bob Harris is a music artist in his own right and has performed with Frank Zappa, Steve Vai, Axe and Warren Zevon), Minor Authority sports a new line-up featuring Daniel Oi (Bass/vocals), Brandon "Dinosaur" Stiles (guitar/vocals) and Nick McCallister (drums). The band cites a long list of influences which include Rancid, the Clash, Operation Ivy, Leftover Crack, the Casualties, Minor Threat, Horror Pops, Time Again, Social Distortion, Choking Victim, the Distillers, and the Exploited, as well as a few movies: Taxi Driver, Devil's Rejects, Nightmare Before Christmas, Suburbia, The Great Rock and Roll Swindle, Larry's Dead.
The Oregon Donor is Coming |
Oft-compared to the likes of Modest Mouse, Built to Spill, Sunny Day Real Estate, and Faraquet, The Oregon Donor have crafted A Pageant's End, officially due out October 6, 2009. Having taken the last year to win live audiences over, most notably opening a sold out show with UK band The Wombats at Chop Suey in Seattle, the young 4-piece is eager and ready to capture the ears of the Northwest music scene and beyond. Songs like "Morse Code" showcase the band's perfected ability for writing catchy pop tunes with just enough Built to Spill-ish jam session qualities to make them interesting. In addition, A Pageant's End displays the band's growth darker, grittier, and more epic than any previous work.
The Oregon Donor is Christopher Edwards (lead guitar, vocals), Lance Umble (guitar), Jesse Cohen (bass), and Kyle Holland (drums). In response to a recent live set, Three Imaginary Girls exclaimed "They're young, ferociously passionate, with a progressive sound both energetic and expansive... one of the very best live bands that I've encountered in the past few months."
