Nirvana, Radiohead, Pink Floyd Hits and more Go Classical |
These are based on his own groundbreaking transcriptions of the songs in question, following on the heels of his past readings of the finest in pop repertoire from Radiohead, Elliott Smith and Nick Drake. Along with his powerful interpretations of the Classical piano repertoire, these new performances exhibit how pianist Christopher O'Riley continues to stretch and redefine the possibilities of Classical music in our time. Out of My Hands is released August 18 by White Tie Records.
Out of My Hands features the single "Heart Shaped Box," now available on iTunes, originally composed by Nirvana's Kurt Cobain. The recording techniques employed exemplify Christopher O'Riley's unique straddling of the Classical and rock music worlds: O'Riley performed on a Hamburg Steinway Model D piano with five microphones placed inside, as well as a 360 degree surround system known as the "Death Star," comprising seven additional microphones. This dual system delivers the intensity and rich harmonic layering of O'Riley's piano arrangements, inspired by the sound of guitars, basses and drums, and captures the concert hall acoustic.

Abrogation Reissue |
"Das Blut der Toten" will be re-released by Metal mind Productions on 27th July in Europe and 8th September in USA (via MVD). New digipak edition is limited to 1000 copies. Digitally remastered using 24-Bit process.
The band's second offering "Das Blut der Toten" ("The Blood of the Dead") saw the light of day in 2002. The album was a perfect blend of traditional heavy metal and a prime dose of crushing death metal - such highlights as "Tyrannei Der Engel" or "Engelmacherin" are brilliant examples of this combination. As for the lyrical background, this time the German lyrics brought the listener right back into the dark ages, telling tales of witch-hunting, torture, crime and deceit. The LP was highly acclaimed by the German music press as well as the world-wide metal community. Although Abrogation never received the proper attention they deserved, the group remains one of the strongest names on the German melodic death metal scene. "Das Blut der Toten" is still one of the most original works released in Germany, and is a must-have for fans of old-school metal heavy and catchy at the same time.
Pacific Theater Debut In Aug |
"Animals at Night" is the culmination of two years worth of song writing and performing. Recorded and mixed in Farnham, Quebec at Petite glise by Mark Lawson (Unicorns, Final Fantasy, Beirut), the record blends current indie rock sounds with new wave influences, ambient textures and a shoegazer sensibility. Simultaneously, each song establishes new, energetic and wholly original sounds. "Animals at Night" is a work filled with emotional climaxes, tasteful nuances and great music.
Pacific Theater formed in the spring of 2007 when Dan Ryan and Adam Travis met as co-workers at New York City's venerable Bowery Ballroom.
