Darker My Love Tour |
Since the release of their critically acclaimed album, a frenzy of feedback-filled guitars, pummeling rhythms and indelible, inescapable melodies, touring has become as familiar as "Best of 2008" lists.
Following on the heels of "Two Ways Out," which spilled out of speakers nationwide, the second single "Blue Day" instantly bursts with huge guitars and infectious harmonies, showcasing Darker My Love's skill in seamlessly merging "a Sabbath stomp and shoe-gazey simmer" (Los Angeles Times. - don't hold this against the band, they are good). Americana Rockers Carlon Sets Release |
Produced by Carlon, Ross Petersen (engineer for Bruce Springsteen, Muse, John Mayer) and executive produced by Dispatch bass player Pete Francis, the 12 tracks on Johari Window recently prompted The Aquarian Weekly to note, "Carlon has Americana folk rock fusion down to a science.
They'll have heavy drum beat, rocking guitar solos, and harsh singing in one song, and the next will sound like a Bob Dylan-meets-Tom Petty balladthey sometimes incorporate whatever they're listening to at the momentthat may be why some of the vocals sound like Modest Mouse and The Hollies' Clarke."

Assemble Head In Sunburst Sound |
San Francisco's Assemble Head in Sunburst Sound is a soundtrack for strange days and futures bright and bleak. But there is also a crooked thread that runs backward through every Assemble Head record the celestial trajectories of The Notorious Byrd Brothers and circa 70 Floyd; the dusty canyon stomps of Crazy Horse, slashing action pop of the savage young Who, Italian bastardizations of Lalo Schifrin cop movie scores, and the scuzz-bomb shrapnel of latter-day garage mongers like Mudhoney and Monoshock.
The band's third LP, When Sweet Sleep Returned, is propelled to some extent by that same glorious distillate. But it also finds the group speaking their own twisted tongue more assuredly than ever marrying hazy Saturday moods, interstellar sonics and wrecking-ball swing to song and harmony in poems for California, lovers, ghosts, the stars, and a world gone stark raving mad.
