Paul McCartney and Dolly Parton Appear On New Yusuf Release |
"This one was really a result of me writing a lot of songs and being kind of inspired again," Yusuf -- who adopted the Muslim name Yusuf Islam in 1978 and now prefers the shorter version -- told Billboard. "After I recorded ('Cup') people just wanted to hear me do a lot of simple stuff, just with the guitar."
The single "Boots & Sand" features Paul McCartney and Dolly Parton -- with a video shot by Jesse Dylan, son of Bob -- while Michelle Branch and Gunnar Nelson assist on the track "To Be What You Must."

Hit The Lights To Hit The Road |
HTL lead singer Nick Thompson will be featured on the cover of the March "100 Bands You Need To Know in 2009" issue of Alternative Press. The band is touring in support of their sophomore album Skip School, Start Fights, out now on Triple Crown Records.
Hit the Lights will be playing this years Winter X-Games 13 in Aspen, Colorado.
Vanilla Fudge When Two Worlds Collide on CD and DVD |
An American band that first came to prominence in 1967 and recorded a number of albums between 67 and 70, when they split. Vanilla Fudge also enjoyed success in the American singles chart with a slowed down arrangement of the Supremes hit You Keep Me Hangin' On. Formed by keyboardist Mark Stein and rhythm section Tim Bogert (Bassist) and Carmine Appice. The final member was guitarist Vince Martell. This DVD features core members Tim Bogert and Carmine Appice alongside newer members Teddy Rondinelli on guitar and Bill Pascali on keyboards.
In this performance from 2004, the band run through key Vanilla Fudge songs including Take Me For A Little While, Season Of The Witch, She's Not There and of course You keep Me Hangin' On. There is also a cover of the Rod Stewart Hit Do Ya Think I'm Sexy which Carmine Appice wrote whilst a member of Rod Stewarts band during the seventies.

Something Evile This Way Comes |
Following lead guitarist Ol Drake's recent jaw injury which caused the band to drop off their European tour with Satyricon, Evile are now keener than ever to get back out there and play some shows.
Ol Drake comments: "Really looking forward to our first full-on headliner tour in the UK. We chose Warpath and Mutant as supports for the tour. Both are friends of the band but are also excellent bands. You have to check them out. This will be a first for us, having a much longer set time, so we're planning to maybe play some demo material which is featured on the Enter the Grave redux, and if all goes to plan, some material from the upcoming second Evile album.

Get Tanked Again |
As the story goes, Algy left The Damned and met brothers Mark and Peter Brabbs. Soon after a new formation was born - a band which would serve a thrilling musical mixture accepted by both punk and metal fans. The name chosen for the group was short and powerful - TANK - it very well suited the band's ambitions to deliver as much impact as possible. The re-released albums - "War Of Attrition Live 1981" and "Filth Hounds Of Hades" - will be available again in a new digipak edition, digitally remastered using 24-Bit process. Both titles are limited to 2000 copies. The release date is scheduled for 26th January in Europe and 10th March in USA (via MVD).

MarsupiaL Set Release |
Now with the eminent release of MarsupiaL's fourth CD, 'Genus Thylacinus', on March 24th the band is being touted as "One of the nation's brightest stars in the prog-rock scene."
MarsupiaL features Ian Reardon on guitar and vocals, Forrest Smith on guitar, Brad Mehder on bass and Chris Carter on drums and vocals. Hailing from Asheville, North Carolina, several of the members first met while attending Appalachian State University in late 2000. The group eventually relocated to Asheville and quickly became one of the most popular acts in western North Carolina.
