Derek Sherinian Sets Release

SPV reports: Derek Sherinian's new solo release "Molecular Heinosity" will be released on InsideOut Music on March 24th.

There are few international keyboardists/composers who enjoy as brilliant a reputation as Derek Sherinian. He has played with acts such as Kiss, Billy Idol, and Alice Cooper and let's not forget he was a member of the prog metal powerhouse Dream Theater.

His latest solo release � the sixth to date � is called "Molecular Heinosity" in which he presents along with haunting prog metal compositions, another series of illustrious guests, among them Zakk Wylde, Virgil Donati, and Tony Franklin. "Why scratch with the turkeys when you can soar with the Eagles," Sherinian laughs. "I hand pick the musicians for my albums like a casting agent picks actors for a movie � they are each ideally suited for the role. I write material that is true to my influences and from the perspective of a listener. Once I come up with the structure or vibe of a song, I then try to imagine who the ultimate team of players would be for it. If I know in advance who will be on the track, I always try to compose with them in mind. I put tremendous effort into writing and arranging my music; it deserves only the world's best musicians to make it come alive." - more on this story

The Decemberists Spring Tour

EMI reports: The Decemberists have announced the first leg of their Spring 2009 North American tour in support of The Hazards of Love, their ambitious new album to be released by Capitol Records on March 24th.

The 16-date run will kick off May 19th at the Hollywood Palladium in Los Angeles, and include a June 10th performance at Radio City Music Hall in New York, as well as a set at the 2009 Bonnaroo Music & Arts Festival in Tennessee.

On tour, The Decemberists will present a full performance of the album, a 17-song suite that tells the tale of a woman named Margaret who is ravaged by a shape-shifting animal; her lover, William; a forest queen; and a cold-blooded, lascivious rake. - more on this story

Hall and Bacon

PR reports: Live From Daryl's House celebrates its sweet 16th episode this month with Daryl Hall welcoming The Bacon Brothers.

Award-winning actor Kevin Bacon and his brother, film/TV music composer Michael Bacon, perform their trademark gritty rock with a touch of soul that traces back to their Philadelphia roots, the hometown they share with Daryl.

World of Music Explored in New Televised Documentary

PR reports: The Documentary Channel (DOC) will present the U.S. television premiere of "4," a documentary that unifies the world through fusion of music with four dynamic cultures in the performance of Vivaldi's "The Four Seasons," as part of its special "Primetime Premieres" February lineup on Monday, Feb. 16 at 9 p.m. ET/PT.

"4" is a documentary that follows four outstanding violinists as they perform Vivaldi's "The Four Seasons" throughout the four corners of the globe. As spring reaches Toyko and the cherry blossoms burst to life, violinist Sayaka Shoji demonstrates to her young students the timeless lessons in the music, and in their own culture.

As the monsoon clouds gather, Niki Vasilakis and friends travel from all corners of Australia to the Far North to share the music of summer with the Thursday Island Community. Steven Van Zandt and The Oak Ridge Boys Go SXSW

SXSW reports: The South by Southwest (SXSW) Music Conference and Festival, scheduled to take place Wednesday, March 18 - 22, 2009 in Austin, Texas is excited to announce the participation of the Oak Ridge Boys in the 2009 Music Conference and Festival. Misguided Aggression on Saint Paddys Day

PR reports: Misguided Aggression has officially signed a with Year of the Sun Records and Kerosene Media for the release of their upcoming debut full-length, "Hatchala". The album will surface in stores across Canada on March 17th, 2009.

"It's really awesome to see all the work we've been doing over the past 3 years start to come together. We're really excited and glad to be working with a label that believes in us and our music," says Misguided Aggression guitarist Ben Dobson. Shout Out Out Out Out in March

PR reports: Shout Out Out Out Out get set to release the long-awaited follow-up to Not Saying/Just Saying, the album that announced the synth-soaked six piece's arrival on the scene.

Reintegration Time is a dense step forward for Shout Out Out Out Out. Nada Surf Vinyl

PR reports: Following the successful release of their career spanning limited edition five-album vinyl box set this past November, Nada Surf are excited to be extending their love affair with wax. On April 14th their albums The Proximity Effect, Let Go, and The Weight Is A Gift will be put out individually on vinyl for fans of the warm crackle.

The albums have been out of print on vinyl individually for many years, and Nada Surf wanted to re-issue these records and make them available to fans who couldn't get their hands on the box-set this fall.

The following night, April 15th, the Brooklyn band plays a home borough one off show at the intimate Bell House.

Halestorm Is Coming

PR reports: Atlantic Records has announced the upcoming release of the self-titled first album from Halestorm. The new rock outfit's full-length debut � which includes the single, "I Get Off" � will be available in stores and via all online retailers on April 28th.

"HALESTORM" will be available at the band's live shows and for pre-order via the Pennsylvania-based band's official website, www.halestormrocks.com, and official MySpace page, www.myspace.com/halestorm, beginning on February 24th.
