Silent Civilian Returning With New Album and Tour
Century Media reports: Brutal, intense, uncompromising and unrelenting are just a few words that one will use to describe the vicious new Silent Civilian album, which is set for an early 2010 release. Silent Civilian embarks on a massive North American headlining run on August 24th.

The band stormed onto the metal scene with their stunning debut offering, Rebirth of The Temple, in 2006 led by Spineshank vocalist Jonny Santos, who used this platform to unleash all of his inner demons. This was an extremely aggressive outing that took the scene by storm and its follow-up looks to take everything to the next level. This is the new wave of thrash metal and you can check out some new demo tracks more. Stay tuned to that link over the next few weeks for a slew of new video footage documenting the making of this highly anticipated new album.

"Musically, this record is very different from the last, but evolution is the key to longevity in my eyes. I believe we are making a record that will retain what is the main essence of SC, but maturing greatly pushing forward. Having another guitar player contribute more to this record as opposed to the last, in which I wrote 90% of the music, is a plus. This record is also much more violent than the last and will be less produced in the sense that I am really trying to capture the elements of a 'live' thrash metal band on tape. There is not much room to breathe with this one, and I want to sonically beat the ---- out of the listener without losing their interest. Dynamically, it will be a roller coaster of beatings and abuse! Don't get me wrong, we will still have very melodic moments as well, because melody has always been a strong part of metal. I am going with a lot of very traditional thrash metal riffs, because I don't really listen to very many newer bands out of fear that I will be influenced into sounding like the band of the week. I would rather be influenced by the bands that pioneered this genre of music (Testament, Exodus, Kreator, Death Angel (my favorite), Forbidden, etc) I promise that this new SILENT CIVILAN disc is going to rip your f**king face off. - more on this story

The Danvilles Say They Are Number One
Musebox reports: When you mix together two parts surf-rock, one part 60s pop, a dash of Brit-rock, and a large helping of good ole Rock 'N Roll, the result is The Danvilles, a combination of layered harmonies with strong guitar riffs and driving rhythms, The Danvilles, debut EP, "Number One" is a seven-track exploration of simple rock and roll. [we assume this is out already since no release date was provided]

Comprised of Michael Hindert (vocals and guitar), Brian Dexter (drums and backing vocals) and Gary Schaff (bass and backing vocals), this Northern Virginia based trio have ventured out to create rock music infused with influences from artists of yesteryear.

Epitomizing the DIY (do it yourself) movement, The Danvilles have self-produced a DVD EP that features a video for each track on the EP. Maintaining an unconventional, artistic approach in the creation of their art, the DVD is The Danvilles visual interpretation of their songs, creating a multi-sensory experience that combines their music with creative, artistic images that stimulate both the ears and eyes.

Mower Make It A Double on the Road
Kerosene reports: Mower has announced the dates for their upcoming headlining tour in support of the group's new album "Make It A Double". The band will hit the road August 13th in Glendale, AZ and run through September.

"We fire off song after song without a lot of chatter and play rock and punk and metal, and whatever other style we feel like. This tour is a run through some of the towns that have partied with us and enjoy what we do and want to let loose with Mower. We'll be playing material from the new 'Make It A Double' disc and older songs we haven't been able to include in the past. The people that are coming to these shows know they are going to be a part of something unpredictable and exciting and we're expecting the same from them. It's been a long summer waiting to perform for and spend time with everyone who gives us the opportunity to put out music and travel and it's great that the 'Make It A Double' tour is ready to get rolling." - more on this story

Austin City Limits Music Festival Online Band Competition
PR reports: Sound & The Jury (S&J), a virtual battle of the bands, is back for its 3rd year and will again offer one lucky band the ultimate grand prize: a slot on the Dell Stage at Austin City Limits Music Festival (Oct. 2-4, 2009).

That means bands of all genres have another shot at landing a dream gig on the ACL Festival line-up alongside musical heavyweights Sonic Youth, Arctic Monkeys, Phoenix, Mos Def, Passion Pit, Daniel Johnston, Andrew Bird, and many more. Last year's winner, The Steps, have since gone on to release an album and go on tour. Who will play the 2009 ACL Festival? It's up to you.

How It Works: Round One is live now and bands can upload their music at www.delllounge.com/soundandthejury to enter the competition. To stay in the game, bands must generate as many votes as possible to land them in the Top 100 by August 28 and then move on to the next round. From there, a combination of industry judges and fan-voting will narrow down the competition to just five finalists who will perform for a live audience in Austin at Antone's on September 30. At the end of the multi-round, two-month campaign, one lucky and worthy band will earn a prize spot on the Dell Stage at the ACL Festival. - more on this story
