Random Touch Announce Rare Vinyl Release |
What really matters when it comes to Random Touch is not their 38 years of collaboration, or their love of pure improvisation or their disinterest in trading music for dollars. What really matters is that they give birth to music that lies beyond ego/mind/thought. Music such as theirs cannot be made when utilizing the mind. Random Touch describe the creative process as riding a wave. The wave itself lies beyond what thought can understand, or the ability of words to bring understanding. While riding this wave the music is manifested. Because this occurs in a space beyond thought, the experience for these three musicians is more akin to witnessing a manifestation, rather than actively creating one. At the deepest level Random Touch are one with the music as it flows into existence. Only afterwards can they recognize the resulting music as a unique and separate entity.
Nowhere is this more apparent than when they set aside traditional instruments - those devices so loaded with personal and public histories - and explore the alchemy of materials intended for other purposes. They may pound, poke, pluck, stroke, scrape, caress, rub, fling, twirl, bounce, bang, knead, crumple, shake, stir or provoke in any imaginable manner. Whether an oil drum, a shelving rack, a cow stanchion or a scrap of plastic, the individual parts matter only a little; the focus is on the symphony of voices that appear to self assemble as if an invisible hand were at work.

"'White Lion Bang Your Head 2005' was something that never was meant to be, but somehow happened," said vocalist/band leader Mike Tramp.
After a 2005 American tour, White Lion made the decision to dissolve the band. Then a call came in that the group could not resist. "I was sitting at home in Melbourne, Australia, and a call came in from Germany, asking me if White Lion wanted to be the surprise guest on the Bang Your Head Festival the following Saturday - only 4 days away," Tramp said. "The next couple hours I called around the world locating the other boys, talking to travel agents, and what have you. How the hell were we to pull this off? But somehow we did."

Slim Twig Sets Album Debut |
Contempt! will be available on CD, LP and digital on June 9. Slim will be touring North America in support of Contempt! with his band, the Mercy Mercenaries. Dates to follow.
Contempt! is a self-made exercise in resourcefulness where Slim experimented with whatever he could get his hands on. It leans decidedly towards an innovative pop sound that places sampling and found sound firmly at its core. The result, pairing the artist's "switchblade-sharp lyrics" (NOW Magazine) with a rawer, sample-based aesthetic, is unpredictable and highly original.

The Legends Coming in June |
The man behind Stockholm-based The Legends, Johan Angergard, (Club 8, Pallers, Acid House Kings) has been known to take his audience for quite a ride. With jarring shifts in musical direction since 2003, The Legends are notorious for being resilient to change, unwilling to compromise their sound while relentlessly confusing and annoying his audience along the way.
The Legends' forthcoming album "Over and Over," recorded in a decrepit basement in South-Central Stockholm, marks yet a new creative turn for the band, mixing hypnotic washes of distorted synths with sweet, bouncy melodies that echo off walls of feedback and loud, shimmering guitars.
